I'm not an overly litigious person, and very rarely do I support weird lawsuits, but I think the old guy has a point.

due to the size of the gator. It will be hard for the course to convince people that they hadn't noticed a 10ft gator before, or that they thought it was safe to allow him to stay on the course.

But they're two separate incidents. The picture was taken 2 years earlier and is the arm of a snorkler whose arm got bitten off.</p>

there are gators around 1000's of golf courses, along with snakes etc. seems to me any golfer dumb enough to not be watching out for danger around a water hazard ought not be entitled to any damages. another question is since gators are protected what options would the course have for "dealing with it". esp if it hadn't already attacked somebody. would be interesting to know if it had signs warning of gators. some courses do and in the southwest the signs saying "don't retreive balls in the rough, due to rattlesnakes" always get my attention.

other opinions may vary but when i have to retrieve balls like that (unfortunately a regular happening), i'm awfully careful and figure i'm on my own. i'm not a big fan of suing for "stuff happens" sorts of events.
