Wish they would go back to state championship games at highschools...chapel hill and nc state were way too big for games...crowds for these games at BOA will look ridiculous. Your so far from the field u might as well stay warm and watch games on tv
It's the experience for the kids though.
If you're 14-18 years old would you rather play in a college stadium, the stadium where Newton, Peppers, Smith, etc played, or a high school stadium in Greensboro?
When did they stop playing the state championship at the higher seeds home field?
In AZ I believe they play their Semi and championship games at a HS stadium but it’s neutral site for both
LR or Elon or NC A &T or uncc would just as good. The atmosphere would be great
We played at Tabor City in 86 and hosted Columbia in 87. Maybe late 80's or early 90s?
It wasn’t necessarily the higher seed. For many years, they alternated east and west as hosts. So if it was your region’s turn to host the finals, it was at your house. I hope they never go back to that.
playin’ in big-time spots like Chapel Hill or NC State is somethin' crazy for them young ballers. For real, these championship games be the highlight of they high school grind. Steppin' out in front of a big crowd is like a sneak peek of what the pros feel, and it lights a fire for what they tryna achieve. I get why folks worry about the vibes and how packed it gets, but hittin' that field where legends done played? Ain't nothin' like it compared to high school.
1A will probably merge with 2A for a state title next year ... Hardly any 1A 11-man playing football schools ... Maybe twice as much in 2A. Doggone non-football playing charters!!!
That would go against the reason they split them for 25-29. I think there will be a 1A champion in the sports that are heavily funded by the charters volleyball, basketball, cross country, baseball, softball and football/basketball from the traditional publics. Other sports such as golf, wrestling, tennis, etc may be combined which is still against why they split them up. Makes no sense to me for a team to qualify for the playoffs in 1A in say wrestling/tennis only to then have to play up in the plaoffs.
We can only hope from this realignment that more charter schools will be open to fielding 11-man football teams in the future
I believe he was referring to the fact of maybe 4-10k people in a 50k stadium. A more intimate setting might have a better atmosphere, closer to what they experience at their high schools.
I'd say it's hard for charter schools to make money in football. Especially the small ones. The people that operate charter schools are in it for the money.

I wish people truly paid attention to what goes on in Raleigh. It's about as bad and dirty as it gets anywhere in the nation.
Yes it is, the latest is the GOP GA tying Helene aid to a bill which also took power away from the incoming Governor, we know they would not have done it if Robinson had won. Tying hurricane aid to it when people in WNC are suffering tells us all we need to know about them and what they really care about.
Dems do the same thing its bs politics.
Yeah maybe so but this is the first time I've ever heard of one party trying to take power away from an incoming Gov. It may have happened before and I've just not heard of it. The worse part IMHO is tying it to the Hurricane Relief funds.

2 wrongs don't make a right and the overreach of the last few years in North Carolina is far worse than anything we've ever seen from anyone. I mean the NCGA voted against making many of their records public knowledge. A public official hiding from public transparency.
And there also was no power grab over high school sports 25 years ago.
Forgot about that one 87, but do remember reading a article on it, not enough people these days really care it seems like, and with the gerrymandering the politicians can basically do what they want and not have to worry about being re-elected. Always wondered why they could not just use existing county lines to form district, if you cannot represent the make up of 2-3-4 counties then you do not win. Instead of us picking our reps, they pick their voters, and remain in office for years.
Stop both parties are corrupt. There is a reason democrats lost so big in election to a loud mouth businessman. Country needs change.

Well, I'm trying to tell you what needs to change at the state level but you keep wanting to focus on the party that doesn't have much power in the state.
Not sure they should care about sports anyway. Education yes!
Well they apparently do since they have taken over athletics.
They definitely don't care about public education.

I don't know what needs to happen and I know there are more questions than answers but there really needs to be transparency regardless of what party is or isn't in control!! I know.......Don't hold your breath, but the red tape is dripping with political BS in this state constantly!!
Transparency is like the air conditioner on a hot Carolina 4th of July day – absolutely necessary!

It seems Mount Airy Posters have had their last posts deleted, first, mine was nothing anywhere near as bad as I have seen and then Bearmod1's post that was basically in line with previous posts by others, It seems since Starmount has improved Mount Airy posters are being run off the boards ! ! !
I am pretty sure which Mod is doing this and this person has shown time and again over the last few years that they don't like Mount Airy, Crap is allowed by others and MA has posts deleted. Someone wants to be happy until they have run all MA posters off the boards and in doing so the boards seem dead the last week or so since the simple posts were deleted. If you want MA gone just hit the bad button. You can't pick and choose the people you like and let their posts ride and delete a post that is not as bad and delete it because it is from MA . I know the Mods on here don't like MA they have shown it over the years. (Chile out and have a little cheese with that wine and lay off Mount Airy posters and be fair to one and all ! ! !
