“Newton let his father make the final decision, and a few
days before Christmas, while sitting at the dinner table in his
brother’s house in Jacksonville, Cecil Sr. uttered two words that would
radically alter the college football landscape: “It’s Auburn.””

Wow, the above line is incredibly powerful after the multiple reports
that have come out in the past couple of weeks on Cecil and Cam Newton
and there is just no way that an intelligent person would not connect
what Mr. Newton told Cam, “It’s Auburn,” with everything that has been
reported in the media relative to Mississippi State.

This has been the one question I want to post on the AU boards all along.

I cannot tell you how many of my FB friends posted links to that SI article and gushed over what a great guy Cam was, and how Cecil "made the tough decisions" to turn his son's life around.

Read the article today and you will laugh your *** off. How did Lars Anderson spend time researching that article and not figure out what was going on?

Auburn only being two hours from Atlanta. How far is Blinn, TX, from Atlanta? Were there no closer JUCO programs available?

Auburn only being two hours from Atlanta. How far is Blinn, TX, from Atlanta?

I was on an Auburn board talking with a poster about this situation and had them include the distance rationale, so I did a quick Google maps search.

Atlanta to Gainesville, FL - 6 hours (where Cam would still be if Tebow had left early if you believe his reason for leaving)
Atlanta to Blinn, TX - 13 hours
Atlanta to Starkville, MS - 4.5 hours

Kind of hard to believe the distance argument.
