This team has won multiple ways so far. They don't give up and keep scrapping. You have to love the mentality and they'll scrap enough to be on the bubble come tourney time.

I'm assuming UAB probably used their ace or at least a weekend pitcher this game, with this being their first game of the year? Hopefully Routt will find his stuff this weekend against SELA.

They brought their closer in the 9th and he gives up 2 long ones. We have multiple options in the pen with Bracewell, Graveman, Watson, Houston, etc. If our starting pitching can give us 5-6 innings, we can Johnny whole staff it till the end, as long as we can swing the bat. Our bullpen will only continue to develop as they get accustomed to D1 baseball. We will take some lumps this year due to youth and lack of talent in certain areas, but we will be fun to watch and will be a .500+ club.

Edited to add: We are winning despite playing sloppy defense and not being able to capitalize in situations with runners in scoring position. We have scored (I believe) 36 runs this year in 4 games/ averaging 9 per game. That's pretty good and we haven't been playing Tougaloo and Tuskegee. Clean the defense up and continue to develop the young arms and we'll be decent. We were near a .500 team last year with quite possibly the worst pitching situation in BCS conference college baseball.

I think it's fair to say that we slapped UAB in the face and punched them in the stomach.

2 come from behind baseball wins and include Phil Turner's clutch three I'd say the sports gods are on our side saving us from embarrassment for once.

Im sure that the UAB closer has already been given milk and cookies and Polk told him that "a foot here and a foot there and Powers' ball doesn't go 430 feet."

This was UAB's first game of the year and I'm assuming that the guy they threw was their ace. He pitched an awful lot last year based on what I looked up about him.

For you non-baseball junkies, the 62 Mets are the worst team in the modern baseball era. Anyway, One time one of their pitchers gave up a bomb, and Casey Stengal, the Mets manager, made a pitching change. The pitcher pleaded with Stengal- "But that wasn't a bad pitch that he hit out". Stengal responded- "Good pitches don't go that far".

He said that he was getting shelled and the manager came out to gethim. Like any competetive player, he wanted to stay in the game so he told the manager "What are you doing? I'm not tired." to which the manager replied "No son but your fielders are."
