Thought the same thing.
Arkansas game, drive at the end of the half, Omarr going nuts trying to get us to hurry.
Our offensive staff lollygagging plays in, half ends with ref standing over the ball inside the 5.

Thats not what happened at all. We were lined up with a play called and the ref stood over the ball and didn't let us snap. As the clocked ticked down, he stepped away in slow motion and the clock hit zero.

Those refs took 2 or 3 times longer than they normally would to spot the ball on an ordinary play.

Yeah, that is what I remember. Refs took their sweet time setting the ball ready for play. We were lined up at the LOS waiting on them.

From what I remember, we threw a long pass to get us down to the 1-yard line

Then we took our time getting to the line and getting a play in and took a delay of game penalty that pushed us back to the 6. The next play we ran down to the 1 yard line again but couldn't get the ball snapped to spike it to stop the clock because the refs were slow in setting the ball.

Yep, I remember the slow set by the officials.
The reason it mattered is the time wasted getting to the 1.
Our crack offensive staff put us in the position by a complete lack of urgency.
I remember Omarr waving at the sideline wanting a play as time ticked off before the long throw.

Looking like Ellis learned a thing or two about clock management in his time in Starkville as well*
