Unlike Mahomes, this is a deal that actually sets precedent for Dak. Jerry gotta have his 5-6 years though....

Saints, Steelers, Tampa, and possibly New England would all love it if Jerry gets stupid next year.

As would Washington, Minnesota, Jacksonville, Denver, Indianapolis, and possibly Las Vegas or Detroit. He’ll have no less than one third of the league begging him to sign if Jerry lets him slip to FA, including several perrenial contenders.

Dallas has made historic mistakes in handling Dak's contract. Even if they are eventually able to retain him the market will have advanced at least two years. They are essentially looking at paying him 40 or more million a year if he has a good season when they probably could've locked him up for four years at 38 million.

Well, it isnt a historic error yet, but if he walks ot will definitely turn into one. There are so many teams that have wandered through the desert of bad quarterback play for years or longer. They had their guy and paid a WR who disappears for half of every season and an RB instead. They may end up with three legit WRs, a HOF RB, and a rookie or Andy Dalton caliber QB running the offense in two years.

The “historic error” was making him the last of the big 3 players in the offense to try and negotiate with for a long term extension. I’d have never thought any organization would be so dumb as to give a record breaking contract to a freaking RB with 2 years left on his current deal, or Top 3 money to a WR who is not even Top 10 at his position. Not to mention that they did both of those things before getting into serious talks with the franchise QB, which took money off the table for him.

I know people love to hate the Patriots, but dak would be belichik's field marshall. They could get some hardware together. Bill would never pay that much, though.

I've always liked the Patriots, and wouldn't mind Dak being Brady's successor. One problem would be Dak's not used to Boston winters, and their stadium is outside.
