How are they going to pay for it as well as pay for recruits and information regarding hate crimes?**

"Assistant Athletic Director Kyle Campbell says the school doesn't know how many seats it will add to the stadium or how much the project will cost."

Is 2.4 million the going rate for an architect? Seems expensive to me but that may be what it cost.

Maybe I should've listened in class more.

It's laughable that they assert that we are the ones with the inferiority...

complex. Anyone with a set of eyes that has been to Oxford in the last five years can see that they shouldn't be expanding a stadium when on many occasion, it hasn't been halfway full. Part of their self-righteous culture I suppose. Their entire means to self esteem is the undeserved sense that they are better than State. It's been quite entertaining watching them self-destruct because of that volatile culture here these past couple of weeks.

Cost of keeping up with the Tractor drivers? They care? Have some assistant AD give a statement to the press.

I know some of those guys. I wish all the time someone had told me to give it a try.

Shoot, I wish I had gone into Heater and Air conditioner (HVAC) repair.

Last time I called my HVAC guy I was deathly afraid it was going to be 2.4 million by the time they got through with me.

I thought it was rich that they are expanding the "North" end zone. Wonder if their North end zone expansion would have included a "Bear Pen" if we had designed a Dog House into our expansion.

They've got to wait and see what our actual capacity is before announcing theirs. It'll be at least one seat more than we have, rest assured.

according to the SDS article, its been significantly scaled down. closing in the NEZ and adding 30 boxes to the SEZ/West side.

seems more about the luxury seating (similar to ours) and that makes some sense. they cant fill their regular seats right now

Higher end seating seems to be the name of the game now everywhere. And I like it too ... the amenities are nice.

But I still don't see why one would pay that sort of a premium and then still have to sit in the end zone. A lot of places are doing it, but you can't really appreciate the games from the end zone, in my opinion.

In fairness, it isn't as if they can't possibly sell more tickets. They were over 98% capacity for the season, and when you consider that many games were most likely bad draws (OOC games), they could likely have sold additional seats for the really good games. Nevertheless, they were not where we were (over 100%) so we unquestionably need the expansion. However, I think it is fair to say that they would certainly sell more tickets overall for the whole season if they increased their capacity. That said look at the link below. It is incredible what the SEC sells related to capacity compared to many schools in other conferences that have terrible capacity percentages.

I imagine it won't be a bowl, but more of a Clemson type enclosing. I bet they only add about 4-5,000 seats. That would bring them to about 66-67,000 capacity. That would be tough for them to fill, but might possibly embark more fans from LSU, Bama, and A&M to come to games in Oxford.

I don't care what anyone say, Ole Miss has the goofiest stadium around. There is no rhythm to it. The nicest grandstand is in the end zone. Their grandstands do not tower over the field. There is not intimidation with their stadium plus it becomes empty at half time and when they sux it is empty at the start of the game. <O:p</O:p

I wouldn't take that article as gospel...

Paying for it with the "Forward Together" money? Why, then, did they just borrow $80 mil for the arena? Someone has been cooking the books in what they've been telling us about fund raising...

the exterior of the endzone looks nice, but the entire rest of the stadium looks terrible from the exterior. its this weird stucco panel **** that looks terrible.

they are a LONG way and a mountain of money away from anything remotely close to the bottom pic. It is going to take a serious overhaul to make them anything other than next to last in the sec (ahead of vandy). additionally, any expansion won't add much seating because there is already a pretty sizable ez section. they are running out of room and their only real option to keep up is going up...as in upper deck. that stadium is at a crossroads and if that wasnt enough of an obstacle, they have trouble filling it up at a consistent level.

this is a LONG way away...enough to say, its a short-term pipe-dream. the demand simply couldnt support this. they would have to hit a serious growth spurt to justify something like this in the next 20 years. the suites/boxes might be there, but as far as asses in the seats and capacity, its a long way away...and after all, that is what this is all about. why else would a school propose an expansion when they arent even filling up what they have?

The issue isn't about adding seats as much as it is about getting rid of the bleachers for a bowled end SEZ. And this has been in the works since at least 2010.

Forward Together money is pledged money over the next five years, which means they don't physically have it in hand. The borrowed money is so they can get started now instead of waiting 5 more years until all of that pledged money is in to start the new basketball facility.

I figure a brilliant statistical mind such as yourself could've figured that out.

I've been through your finances before at length on here. The bottom line is your athletics dept is and has consistently been putting out a bunch of ******** numbers.

So, the initial plan was to wait 5 years on the arena? Yeah, I don't think so. So, what are you actually doing that is different than what MSU is doing how? Except we borrowed on the front end while using PSLs to pay it off post-rebuild. But hey "lol, MSU is broke and borrowing money -- Ole Miss is paying cash for ours!!1!1"

Wait!!!1!!!1!!!!!!

They need to take a building or two down and expand the grove !!!!!11!!!1!!!!!!

They could even add a chicken strips stand for those who forgot to bring stuff to the party. That along might pay for the demolition and rebuild.

Who has said anything about you borrowing and us not? I certainly haven't. And I don't remember bringing your expansion into the discussion, I was talking about OUR financial situation.

Who said the plan was to wait five years? That was never the plan. The CGA pledge amounts are spread over five years (you can pay all up front if you wish) and that's what I was clearly talking about. The amount we say we have donated includes actual money in hand and pledges. We borrowed money now so that we could start construction on the basketball arena soon instead of waiting until all the pledged amount is in hand. As I said already, the borrowed money will be paid back by currently pledged amounts. This was always the plan for renovation and expansion.

I don't know enough about your situation, so I'll ask. Do you have money pledged already to cover the cost of your borrowed amount? If not, is there a campaign for that currently? If not, is there a plan in the works?

If the answer is no to the first, then that is how it is different. Otherwise they are no different, and I don't know where anyone has said they were.

Have they started on Sad Pad II yet? I can't imagine two major construction projects on that nightmare for traffic campus.
