Good or Bad thing for Rutgers? Michigan State having close call against Purdue this week...

So Michigan State was up 21-0 against Purdue at halftime and then ended up having a much closer call than expected and only won the game 24-21.

So the question is...... is this a good thing or a bad thing for Rutgers?
- Is it a good thing in the sense that if Purdue could play with MSU then that means we could obviously play with MSU as well.
- Or is it a bad thing in the sense that Michigan State wasn't as focused as it should be against Purdue since it considered them an easy win and now that they got that "close call," they won't make that mistake again and they will be plenty focused for the Rutgers game.

My opinion is that it is a good thing for Rutgers because I don't think the Purdue game had THAT big of an impact on MSU since they got the win. IF THEY HAD LOST.... well that is a totally different story and you better believe they would have wanted to come back the next game (which would be against us) and they would have wanted to release all the anger they had from losing to Purdue. BUT OF COURSE THEY WON.

So now the RU coaches hopefully have a blueprint that can be used against MSU and if you combine that with the famous Rutgers Blackout Game atmosphere then there is a chance for a decent game. (But if the coaches literally hold off on calling ANY plays that involve throwing the ball further than 15 yards then we are screwed no matter how incredible the Blackout atmosphere because we won't be able to just mash the ball down MSU's throat like we were able to against the Kansas and Washington States of the football world.)

Get ready for the blowout and more other teams kept it close whining from me! But seriously I am drinking the Kool Aid this week and looking for a win. RU will do a #1 on MSU who will do a #2!

Them having a grind it out type game in wet weather helps us. Your legs muscles take a beating in rainy games.

Hopefully we handle the bye week well and come in fresh with a crazy home crowd behind us

I see it two ways.... If you watch whatever positive things Purdue did against Mich st, you could try to incorporate them into the RU game plan....this
being a positive...

If Michigan state has its way big time against RU, they may be tempted to add another 10 pts onto their total, in an effort to
shore up their ranking..... they lose a bit in voting this weekend voting wise, would be my guess..., this is the negative.

Purdue running back had 157 yards vs MSU. Can Hicks get about 100 yards vs. MSU?

If they had blasted Purdue off the field I think it would have really made it tough for our guys to think upset. We are not dealing with mindless robots that have no memory functions. MSU appears to be vastly overrated at this point. It remains to be seen if they can continue to eke out wins, but the real question is can we take advantage of this?
Our coaching staff has had the benefit of a bye week to get ready for this game. If we just come out and play the same game plan that has gotten us to this point, we will not win the game. We have to throw some real things at them on both sides of the ball that give us a reasonable chance to stay in the game. To me, this is more on the coaches than the players.

Well, if it somehow gets Rettig some PT, it's a good thing. BTW, I am not wishing injury on Laviano.

If "Beat Nobody" Indiana could do what they did, and Illinois could do what it did, and Purdue could do what it did, then why can't we do, what we might do? Oh, wait a minute, Maryland did doo doo...
