Good pitching will beat good hitting any time, and vice versa

I am a huge Stratton fan but his placement was way off on some pretty important pitches today. The tiny strike zone certainly didn't help but he missed badly at some key times and a good hitting team will make you pay for that.

Then Reed comes in and hangs a breaking ball that was up in the zone and should be crushed 10 out of 10 times.

Stratton gutted out a tough performance but when he missed today, they were big misses and game changers.

I hate it for him because he is an outstanding pitcher and has been huge for us this year but our pitching was not good today.

In fact, the Norris homer vs UK may be the only mistake I can think of that we punished. Samford completely took advantage of Every single error our pitchers made today...and turned most into immediate runs. Gotta give them credit, but I don't understand Stratton leaving so many 0-2/1-2 pitches in the strike zone. I understand that he wants quick outs, but when you don't have your best stuff you can't afford to take those chances.

Of course, it doesn't matter when you can't score a run.
