If his last college game is what he's bringing to the NBA, then I'd
say, in five years, he's got a really good chance to be your Provo area
Isuzu dealer.

Great kid, though. Polite, smart (good chess
player, whiz at Sudoku), studies his Bible in hotel rooms. Maybe that
was the problem. Fredette and the largely Mormon BYU Nation should've
never been made to come to New Orleans. You can sin just by osmosis
here.

"He's a little Maravich," a guy in a BYU shirt told me.

No!
No, he isn't! He's not within a mile of Mardi Gras floats of Maravich.
Maravich could get his shot off from the bottom of a swimming pool. He
could get 40 in handcuffs. He averaged 44 points a game in college (to
Fredette's 28 this season) and that's without the 3-point shot. With it, studies of his game film have shown, he would have averaged over 55.

Until he shows more interest in defense than a blind man has in
rainbows, he's going to spend most of his NBA life sitting on padded
folding chairs.

he ranted on this yesterday on his radio show. He said many black players have been criticized for lack of effort on defense and rebounding but the Jimmer skates on these issues despite being criticized by his own teammate.

to somewhat enjoy listening to his show, but ESPN has turned it into a joke. He's following the Finebaum format.

His defense is allowed to slide because without hisoffense, BYU would have been damn lucky to be in the CBI. I think what you are seeing is just the typical backlash that you always see against highly publicized players.

I think Fredettewill be very similar to Reddick in the pros. Not a superstar but a good role player. Certainly if Steve Kerr or Tim Legler can make it then Jimmer can.

He seemed to be wearing a blindfold from the 3-point arc -- 3-for-15. Plus, he committed six turnovers and wandered aimlessly through the lane on defense like Moses in the desert. I've seen dead people play better defense. At least they occasionally trip people.

who averages 35.8 minutes a game and doesn't play defense. He may have taken some plays off, but his season was 37 games long. That's a lot of basketball and the next closest Cougar averaged 32 mins a game. After that there's a huge drop off. Take Jimmer out of the equation and BYU would have been lucky to get to the NIT, especially after that center was suspended.

The defense comment is something a lot of casual NBA fans fail to realize.

In the NBA, you don't get minutes just for being a scorer. You may get to come off the bench and play 15-20 minutes a game as a 3 point shooter, but you'll never be a regular starter in the NBA if you can't play defense.

The Grizzlies are a prime example. They got better when Tony Allen started getting minutes, and picking up Battier has helped. Both of them are alright offensively, but they primarily give you defense.

I don't recall anyone ripping on Steph Curry, Dennis Scott, or Chris Jackson for their poor defense in college. Right now the "cool thing to do" is to bash Fredette based off his last game. With some of the things I have read lately I can't decide if some of these guys hate white people or just Mormons.

scattered over a 2 hour period. He could not get off the Jimmer issue. It was the same damn thing over and over. He can say in 2 hours what others could say in 2 minutes.

And Bo Bounds needs to step it up. Colin mentions the business world almost as much as he does now.
