But part of me is really going to miss Raycom/JP. They were pretty 2nd-rate, but there's something to be said for the local feel they had, and that you could always count on those same announcers year in and year out. And it was kind of fun waiting for them to goof up stats and goof up strategy ("I really think Auburn should take the safety right here, Dave!").

Their broadcasts always reminded me of the National Wrestling Alliance broadcasts back in the day. WWF was clearly more flashy and had a national appeal, but the NWA always seemed more interesting. The only thing that was missing with Raycom was hearing "the NWA, the major league of professional wrestling".

it was terrible. Their basketball coverage, though, was typically pretty good, and Tom Hammond is one of the best in the business. Would like to see him on ESPN.

You guys are nuts. Raycom blows. Watching the SD broadcast this week, most of the time they didn't have the score up.

I'm not saying they were quality broadcasts. I'm saying, as a fan of the SEC, it was better than listening to endless barrage of chatter about Dook, UNC, Big Least. All Cupcake Conference etc.

today his bias and wishing for LSU was so apparent that my stomach turned...guess I should have just considered the source and let it go.

when all the announcers were saying their goodbyes, especially Larry Conley and Tom Hammond. Those two are really the voices of SEC basketball in my opinion and I will miss them.

on ComCast that had a RayCom broadcast of various games MSU played in.
For that, I'll miss them.

I have no particular angst for nor against their commentators. It's just good, when you are far away from the Golden Triangle, to be able to see the Dawgs on TV. I'm hoping that continues with ESPN, or whoever picks up the franchise.

2007 Egg Bowl on O's ill fated 4th and 1 call:

Dave Neal- I think Ole Miss should go for it.

Dave Archer- I would think you would punt.

Yeah, the football was pretty bush league, and I hated going up for the 11:30 games because I couldn't sleep in. But the basketball was OK. I like Joe Dean, Jr. Maybe I'm in the minority here, but he was my favorite.
