You can't read too much into a friendly. We basically played only the players who were borderline to make the 23-man squad. It was pretty much a B-team game for us. Very few starters played at all. We should advance out of group play into the knockout rounds.

Probably the best goalkeeper we would face in the WC (even if we won the whole damn thing).

A couple of observations:

1 - if Eddie Johnson or Jozy Altidore had the fire of Edson Buddle they would be int'l superstars
2 - Maurice Edu is a solid MF, not a centerback
3 - Goodson showed some skills and I think he would make a decent backup FB
4 - I like Robbie Rogers fire
5 - Demarcus Beasley shouldn't make the team
6 - Gooch better learn to trust his new tendon STAT
7 - Gomez should make the team as a backup who can come in late and run through defenses
8 - the US needs a better defense (I would take Eddie Pope, Jeff Agoos, and Hjeduk in a heartbeat)
9 - we need to hold England to no more than a one point differential
10 - no excuse for not making it out of group play

I still can't get the image of Agoos' own goal against Portugal in the 2002 World Cup out of my head. My God that was horrible. I do agree I like Buddle and Edu. <div>
</div><div>Also, like patdog said, this was hardly our A team. With about 10 minutes left in the game, the majority of the starters came down to the field including Howard, Donovan, Bocanegra, Dempsey, Bradley, Altidore, etc.</div>
