Watching this game, I think the best thing to do is send two guys at Boozer up top. If he just has 1 guy on him, he always just blows by him and makes a tough shot. Have to send 2 guys and force him to get rid of the ball. If someone else makes a shot, so be it.
This is exactly what I thought St John’s would do, Pitino did it to Tim Duncan of Wake Forest and it was highly effective for the Cats back in the day.

The TCU game was the real travesty, because it flipped on a dime in the 2nd half and TCU was much more balanced.

The problem with Siena and SJU is that both teams did launch a ton of 3s. Where Duke played inside. Duke inevitably was gonna get more FTs. But it should not have been that big of a disparity.
Siena only shot 26 threes, Duke the same. But Duke shot 21 free throws to their 6. A 12 point advantage in freebies in a game they won by 6.

21-6
23-10
24-8

St. John’s game would almost be acceptable knowing they shot 41 threes but they also had their share of taking the ball hard to the hole and rarely got bailed out as Duke did on numerous accounts. That was a very physical ball game and Duke was whistled for 13 total fouls. NCAA not even trying to hide the bias whistle they receive at this point. With different officials each game these have to be the marching orders handed down by the NCAA to have a tighter whistle on dukes opponent. You can’t play a year like Duke has shooting more free throws than your opponent every single game otherwise. Think Duke has had two games all year, out of 37, where they shot less. Virtually impossible in today’s landscape. Cam boozer, 2 fouls or less in all games but 7. Give me a break.

If this basketball thing doesn't work out for Boozer, he could be a heckuva fullback the way he crashes into the defender and never gets called for a foul. He just lowers his shoulder and pushes off or throws an elbow into the defender and has an open shot. Someone gets near Boozer and it's a foul.

Just be ready, guys. I've already prepared myself for it. If it's close, the refs are going to help Scheyer get his first title. Then they can say he got his first title before the age of 40 and compare that to Coach K winning his first at 44.

That will make it #6 for Duke.

I'm okay with Arizona, Illinois, Purdue or Michigan. Iowa has no shot. Tennessee only in a world where they're playing Duke or UConn.

Even with all of that said, we know how this ends. Got to get the golden boy his first title.

Yukon has been waiting for this game.
Bye bye Dukies.

When "Faces of Jon Scheyer"
actually wins the championship I'll believe it.

Until then I suspect it'll be very very entertaining the implosion...

In their first 3 games Duke shot 68 FT's while Siena, TCU, and St. John's shot a COMBINED 22 FT's...

Apparently, it's been going on for decades....I checked the '78 Championship game and they shot 9 more FT's than UK did..

Arizona in the tournament so far:

111 free throws taken
47 free throws for their three opponents

dif: 63

IL the first 3 games:
IL - 21, PENN - 2
IL - 17, VCU - 6
IL - 21, HOU - 2
Total: IL - 59, opponents 8
Diff: 51

the greater teams tend to take more free throws than most of their opponents. Shocker that it may be!

It's not just about FT's attempted, it is also about Duke not getting whistled for fouls on defense. Okay, let's use the three-point FG argument that some fans are so fond of.

3-Point Attempts
Arizona 38
Opponents 82
*Arizona opponents have attempted 47 FTs

3-Point Attempts
Duke 61
Opponents 82
*Duke's opponents have attempted 24 FTs

I guess every tournament opponent Arizona played has done nothing but attempted threes or driven to the basket? And that's why Zona's opponents have double the amount of attempted FTs over Duke's opponents.

Duke has the highest payroll in CBB, not UK, and that’s what a real team of highly payed players should look like💯💯

Yup. Wonder why only one team is catching heat for it when the numbers say otherwise.

Duke has always gotten a favorable whistle they know it everyone knows.

They’ve always had a fairly favorable road to a high seed via ACC. Only challenge is usually UNC. Once in they generally get a manageable bracket.

This is just history folks. Not hate.

With all that said, Duke is has always been very consistent in recruiting. They may be the best at individual evaluation but also finding the right individuals who will have great chemistry.

They recruit solid fundamental basketball players.

There is something about Duke that attracts aforementioned solid fundamentally sound team players that is unique to them. No other blue blood or high end program has it like they do.

Other side of that coin is also true, there’s certain players that don’t go to Duke and Duke has no interest in. Just wouldn’t work.

Most programs have all sorts of different types of players and very different types of teams/styles/chemistries season to season.

But the facts say, they’re not even getting the most advantageous treatment in THIS Tournament. That would be Zona and Illinois.
The facts are, you are deflecting to an conveniently and narrowly picked time frame. (cherrypicking) Small sampling can be totally anonomoulous. Larger time frames suggest a pattern. We have all watched this pattern for decades and we aren't the only fanbase that notices it.
