That zone is a lock for a good gator if you know what you are doing and are patient. Best zone in MS IMO...

I didn't get drawn this year or last year, but go every year. Once you accumulate all of the "stuff" needed to gator hunt, you become the go-to for friends that get drawn and start putting a pencil to the cost of doing it themselves.

One thing I highly recommend is getting out there and scouting beforehand. Hard work pays off on that -- and learning to judge size under flashlights at night is a bit of a learning curve best to accomplish before it's go time...

This is my first year to be drawn. Usually just go along with my friends from work. Will be at Delta State on August 9th for the mandatory class to get your gator permit. We have a group of about 12 going and most have been in previous years and have caught them. We already have the noose, harpoon, shark boueys and boats. Will probably hunt Big Black on day one and Eagle Lake day 2 then head on up north from there if we haven't filled them by then.

I've got a 7 footer and a 4 footer in my duck hole north of Yazoo City

they are kind of aggressive.

Don't go too far north. In the central zone you may be OK -- but in the actual northwest zone, it's a ghost town. Brother made the mistake of drawing there one year and we hit it hard in 3-4 different spots -- and barely saw any gators. Think only a half dozen or so were taken in the whole area.

You can slaughter them on the Eagle tributaries...to say the least...

Flying J truck stop in Pearl had 2 in the parking lot last week and Howard Ballou's son made a video of one walking along the causeway at the reservoir as he drove along by it in his car last week. There was one trapped on Lakeland a few weeks ago, damn things are everywhere....

First year I haven't got drawn but it may because because I didn't tag out last year. Good luck man and post pics of the results.

What do you do with the dead gator once you got one? Sell it, eat it, make a pair of shoes and matching man purse?

First you take pictures and put them on the Interwebs***

they used to ride around town with the victim strapped over their hood.

I will leave that to my friend. He can sell it by the foot/wt and split money with me or cut it up to eat.

I didn't think there were enough gators harvested in MS to have a place that buys and processes them like the do in LA.

If you sell it somewhere like that you have to take it down there. Lots if red tape involved too when you cross. State lines.

The processors we take our gators to in louisiana have to work through the Louisiana department of wildlife. Don't think they can accept gators from ms or tx.

Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks had a list of dealers on their website in Louisiana that are allowed to buy Mississippi gators.

My plans initially were to get a pair of boots made but once I got prices I decided against it. I didn't fill mine last year and the other times I've went I didn't keep what was caught due to them not being my tags. I will have a pair of boots made from an alligator I murder in cold blood one day though.
