Including Banks and Slay, since Dan took over in 2009 we have put 10 players in the NFL, most of them earning quality playing time.

We have had 3 straight bowl appearances and we consistently put players in the league. It's becoming a trend to hear Mississippi State University called on the first and second day. I'm excited about the upcoming season. Since some people are talking about the struggles in baseball I will happily talk about our football program.

We are going to be playing Tyler under center more, probably in more of a pro-style "use the run to set up the pass" offense. Because of this, Robinson will see a much increased roll and produce solid numbers accordingly. As much as I like Milton, Robinson should be a beast for us and will be the better out of the two. LDP will still be our main back but with Robinson's power it is going to be hard to keep him out of those Ace formations.
I hope to see Holloway get a few chances this fall too. He's electric.

Geoff Collins has his chance, let's see what he can do for us with the full off-season to prepare his defense. Most of you already know how great it is to have David Turner back.
It's good to see Nick James taking himself seriously. I wish Quay would get it together upstairs, it seemed like every time he would get in for a play or two his name was called. I think he has all the natural ability but we'll see how it plays out. We're going to need all the help we can get up front to help out our green secondary.

Who are some signees that you are looking forward to seeing on campus (or are already there)?

How do you feel about the football team? The Defense?

Jeremy Chappelle is going to be a big play maker. He breaks tackles, is fast, long and lanky. He's gonna be fun to watch. Hopefully we will have Lewis and Holloway returning kicks this year. That would be one of the fastest return duos in the country. I wanna see us line up under center more and just pound run the ball. Stop with all the option crap. Lately it seems like we are trying to make too much happen. We need to go back to power running with a deep ball in there every now and then. I think our record will be bad this year but we will play well. I think we got screwed with our scheduling.

I think we go bowling, which is all that matters; keep the streak alive kind of

I'm excited to see Chappelle, can he add any weight to him? I'm real excited to see us under center. Hopefully handing it off to Robinson about 7-10 times a game to start off with, give or take as production dictates. Going under center really should show off our talented tight end and staff. It all hinges on the O-line though. Sure hope they can improve.

Who are our best 2014 Draft prospects as of right now?

I agree with you about Chapelle. He's the receiver we've been needing-big, fast and gets yards after the catch. But that's about all I agree with.
Everything developes so slowly with Russell. I'm afraid our offense is going to start like we finished last year. I don't see the potential in Robinson. We don't nor will we ever have the talent to pound teams down every game and win like Alabama. Mullin was suppose to be a spread option guru but we haven't run it since he got here. If you don't believe it works see tsun and tamu. Prescott and Milton are the two wasted players on the offense. Perkins is a pretty good sec back but can't carry the team. Probably would be much better in the spread option with misdirection, passes etc.
I think our defense will be better but we'll need to score some points to win. Our linebackers are big but don't have the speed that White and Wright had. That's one of the reasons we couldn't stop the spread option. Brown and Ward (I think) showed some apeed at LB in the spring game. And where was Richie Brown? Looks like we've got some potential in Coman and a few other new guys at db but we'll see this fall.
I like Tyler Russell and I think he represents the university very well but if he can't pick up the pace on offense we'll be in trouble again.

Draft prospects?

Russell
Whitley
Perkins
Autry
Skinner
Jackson

Would take a break out year to get any of those into day 1, but all have the talent and potential to play at the next level.

Jackson projects to be a Day 1 pick. But OG is not as popular as LT. He has going for him that most of the Bama and A&M line went this year.

Is there anyone that doesn't want and should expect that from our team?

I emailed it to Megan to proofread for me beforehand**

Who said anything about "team?"

I expect it from Danny two gloves from now on, as opposed to the quitter **** we were made to endure from bama pretty much on.

I am so glad to see us pick up a few out of state WR's like Ross and Chappelle. I don't think people realize that all of these MS WR's don't catch any damn passes in MS high school football. We are just now starting to see some passing attacks worth talking about in the MS high school ranks. So the WR's are severely under developed.

I think that we will see a tremendous difference in Chappelle and Ross being from Texas. I wouldn't be surprised to see both of them in the starting lineup by year end. It will be harder for Ross than Chappelle though, since he is a Freshman and not on campus yet.

*And I know we've had WR from outside of the State, but I'm not sure we've ever had a 4 or 5 star from outside of MS at that position. I may eat these words, but Fred Ross could end up being one of our best WR ever. (Not that he has to rise up above a bunch of Hall of Famers*).

+2. How we "checked out" during vast stretches (aka quit) still pisses me off...

Busting your *** for 60 minutes, no matter if it's against BFECC or Alabama, fixes a lot of problems.
