Was posted by a Rebel shockingly enough. Now I dont know what this guy's definition of a major bowl is, obviously it isnt the Cotton Bowl. BCS Maybe? Either way, just keep doing what you are doing Ole Miss.

Appearances in major bowls, final fours and college world series since 1972 (the last time Ole Miss appeared in any of these - college world series).

I saw the original post, and he used the Orange, Cotton, Sugar, and Rose for major bowls from 1972 until the creation of the BCS, or sometime around then. That's when he replaced the Cotton with the Fiesta. The Cotton used to be one of the big bowls, but it lost its place when the SWC went under, which was around the time the BCS was created, or at least the Bowl Alliance or whatever it was called.

Still a good bowl, no longer a major bowl.

ETA: Found the original post. He added the Fiesta Bowl to the mix as a major bowl in 1987, so at that point he had 5 major bowls. Then he dropped the Cotton in 1998 when the BCS was created, cutting it back to only 4 major bowls again. I think that's a fair way to look at it given the bowl standing since the 70s.

Tough pill to swallow for us "bottom-feeders" of the SEC, though. Nice way to quantify National Relevance in the Big 3 sports. The only thing I might change is weighing football at 1.5%, basketball at 1, and baseball at 0.5%.

You must really like basketball compared to football and baseball.

From 1977-1985 there were West and East divisions in baseball and State won some of those, as well as some overall championships in baseball in the 70's and 80's.
