I'm no MB fan, but he did exactly what an AD is supposed to do in this situation. To see it any other way is obtuse.
It is amazing how people come to a negative conclusion about everything.
Quit crying about Mitch. Mitch is the best AD UK has ever had. If you think otherwise your the idiot. You're probably the same person that said Mitch doesn't pay coaches enough
UK could win national titles in every sport from football to ping pong and some would still never give any credit to Barnhardt. Take every little thing possible and spin it to hate on Mitch. No AD is gonna hit a home run with every hire. I'd like to know who those people think would do any better. It'd ridiculous and ignorant.
It's not home-runs we're asking for. Just get base hits and RBIs, consistently. He's already 0-2 (Joker & BCG) with the possibility of striking out with Stoops.
I like how every good hire (cal) is done by someone else (Pratt) and all the bad hires are on Mitch. Pratt is the biggest moron in UK sports. How the hell he gets credit for Cal shows just how out of touch the fan base is...

What about track coach men and women's, softball coach, baseball coach won the sec not long ago, soccer coach men and women's, tennis coach men and women's, riffle, etc all ranked at some point and all the new facilities. I guess Mitch didn't hire these coaches.
I'm glad Mitch stepped in and they were able to make this hire. With so much negativity going on with the program, I'm happy to see something positive. I hope these hires help turn the program around. Having a good, veteran assistant can assist with more than just offense. Gran was the associate head coach and special teams coach at Florida state. Gran has coached a ton of big time running backs over his career and I'm looking forward to seeing what he does with the backs that we have.

Honest question, but the wrong one. Just because one group of guys are sinners doesn't make the other guy a saint. UK football sucked pre-Mitch, we get it. The question isn't whether or not he caused this mess, the question is can he fix it. So far the answer is no. And if CMS doesn't work out I'm ready to give someone else a chance in the AD chair. What would we have to lose?
exactly right. he's an AD in the SEC. not the sun belt, not the mountain west. he's been in this football conf for what, 14 years and has had a decent team for what, 2 or 3 of them? and rather than build on that brief success he starved it, running off his decent coach and drove it to near its lowest depths seen. can't fundraise worth squat; has overseen little brother school dominate him on facilities building. made numerous revenue sport hiring blunders. and people want to pat him on the back because he's the best we ever had?!? sad commentary on our expectations for sure.
No! Only the strikeouts count. You know that. Singles, doubles and - especially - home runs, don't count. Messes up the narrative.

I agree 100% that the raises were a mistake. Bad decision by Mitch that could bite us in the ***. I have no problem calling out where mistakes are made, but I don't just have a general negative thought and don't twist things into a negative.
according the MJ, it was actually Stoops who got the deal sealed and not MB. FWIW. he just tweeted it
The AD stepped in to help one of his head coaches reel in his #1 choice for offensive coordinator. This is exactly what an AD is supposed to do.
Sorry, dude. I was being facetious there in what was apparently a poor attempt to make a point - that point being that I don't really want to hear about women's basketball, baseball, volleyball, etc when the football team sucks.
here's my point... football may be the cash cow now, but you can't say an AD sucks because the football continues to suck after 60 years. He's pulling in revenue and making UK a hot spot for college athletes of all sports. Isn't that what an AD does?
Mitch has probably promised Gran that Stoops is going to have at least three more years here regardless of what happens. MB knows that he is probably finished if Stoops doesn't work out whether he gets rid of him in year 4 or 5 or 6 or 7. No way does he fire Stoops early, that would mean that he probably gets rid of himself early. If Stoops doesn't work out the premature extension has done MB in.
what is this revenue you speak of? please don't count conference money, all the school drink from that trough. only things he's responsible for please. how does it stack up vs other SEC ad's? recent usa today says not too good.
Mitch is an ok AD. I for one couldn't care less about the secondary sports, I know some do but and I am glad he has hired good coaches, although someone mentioned baseball, UK was co-champs with Bama in 06 and has never won a SEC title in a 100 years other than that. However even though this the football board a few people said what Cal doesn't count? No. He doesn't count. Mitch stiffed him the first go around when he hired BCG, then got told he was hiring Cal or he was gone the 2nd go around. For the 1st few years here Cal and Mitch had no relationship because of it. Martin Newton and Dewayne Peevy were go betweens for the 2 of them because they despised each other. Cal puts UK back on top and Mitch had to cave and start sucking up to Cal.
Not a fan of Mitch but he is trying to pay attention to football. My guess the Stoops hire doesn't work out but after years of not paying to UK football and letting it go down the tank, at least now he's giving it a go. You can certainly thank the SEC network and ESPN for UK pumping money into the program.

Nothing but crickets from most of the negative Nancy's. Please tell me who is the best AD UK has had? An AD is responsible for ALL SPORTS. UK across the board has never better. AD of the year. New baseball stadium coming now. All MB needs now is the new BB arena. Stoops to be continued, but best recruiter UK has ever had, period

He's the best AD we've ever had yes. But we've never had a good AD so idk how much that's saying. I think the reason fans are upset with the AD is because he doesn't know the slightest bit about football. The biggest money sport there is.
