Grantland article on Dak

Click here. Good read. Raises insightful questions about Dak against tougher competition, State's paltry QB history, etc.

I didn't see anything in there I have a problem with...but Kellenberger had to tweet "I pray for your mentions."

Why, Hugh? Because you (an Ole Miss beat writer) got blasted for shitting on Dak (#NearlyIntercepted)? I'm willing to bet most *rational* State fans agree Hinton made very legitimate points about Dak, and our history with QBs.

Does Ole Miss media relations have to approve Hugh's articles and tweets? Damn...

Kellenberger's always throwing snide little comments like that... His UM followers eat it up.

That is a good article though. Much more intelligent and insightful than Kellenberger's "Dak almost threw an interception that one time!!11!" and "Dak didn't make any throws or runs on media day1!!1!" piece of trash.

Kellengberger is such a....I don't know what what he is but I don't like him.

He might as well work for Chuck Rounsaville.

Isn't this the same genius that mocked Dak's preseason hype by taking his 2013 stat line out of context?

Matt Hinton's written great stuff for quite a while. Anyone know if he and Ed Hinton are related?

I still blame his editor more than Kellenberger for that article. Creglow acted like it was without bias where he knew it was click bait.

One slight correction.
The only MSU player to take a snap as a quarterback in the NFL (Joe Reed, an 11th-round pick in 1971)
Bruce Threadgill played DB for the 49ers and once had to go into a game at QB because their 2 QBs got hurt. Here's his career stat line:

Kellenberger seems to love making quick jabs about Dak or State fans. Super annoying.

But hey, at least it's not one of our own beat writers doing it for once. *cough* Brad Locke *cough* Ratt Stevens

Jeez do I not miss having to read Brad Locke's garbage in my Sunday paper. Nothing we did was ever good enough for that farthead.

Also, how are you born and bred in MS and not know Don Smith? Go ask UT fans if they know who Don Smith is. Virtually any MSU fan born in the last 30 years (probably the problem here) and they know Don Smith or damn well should. He was a dual threat QB throwing for 2000 and running for 700 before it was cool.

No mention of John Bond in discussing our best QBs?

I thought the same thing. Plus, no Sleepy or TR. I wish people wouldn't write about MSU history if they have no knowledge of MSU history. Why ruin what little bright spots we have?**

Matt Hinton is a Southern Miss alum...

...which means of course he pays more attention to LSU.

I haven't read the article yet but dang right about Don Smith. One of my greatest Jack Cristil memories was standing in a field of cutover pine working on my thesis project and hearing Jack calling Don Smith around the the end for 62 yards and a TD to stick a knife in those Vols. If you don't mention Don Smith when talking about MSU QB's, you don't know Jack.

Yep. I was standing in a dove field overlooking the MS river when Jack made that call. Fun times...

Matt does have Mississippi ties I believe -- I've seen him make mention of our state numerous times on his Twitter feed --, although I'm not sure of any relation to Ed.

We were watching on TV and every time State did something good - my mom wasn't in the room. We told her to leave the room 2 plays before Don Smith's run.
