is that there are more blacks in the South. It would be pretty hard to find much racism in the light yellow areas of the country.

Its hard to marginalize 30-50+% of a population. Cities like Boston never had to deal with the issue of racism so there is not as much shame or proactiveness to combat racism. Michael Wilbon said a couple years ago on PTI that black athletes have always thought of Boston negatively

Not just black-white racism, but also racism between different white ethnic groups. It's no surprise that the racial incident in the NHL a few weeks ago was Bruins fans.

Bostonians are extremely racist, are you kidding me? I know how ridiculous this comment is but, have you ever watched a movie based in Boston? It's pretty accurate. I think it's because of any major US city you have more low income whites living in assisted living than any other. And when you have ignorant low educated people stuck in a bad situation they can't escape from they usually irrationally hate, see Mississippi circa 1950 for a good example.
