72-7 final. Worst loss for Altavista since 2005. Grayson was pulled right at 2nd quarter after breaking the record. Altavista scored on a 90yd run against 2nd string. Staunton River's 2nd string line and what looked like 3rd string backs (don't quote me on that) scored almost at will vs altavista 1st string. Come away at the end of the game seeing we have some depth to the team.

You are correct. Coach Poston pulled most of the starters with about 6 minutes to go in the 1st. Keeping with the trend, I would say very little (if any) starters played in the second. Quite honestly, this was one of the classiest moves I've seen by a coach. As ugly as the score was, it could have been much worse. Kudos to the Altavista kids for staying classy. Often times in a situation as this, the other team will get chippy and start taking cheap shots. That was not witnessed, from my perspective, and shows good leadership from Altavista.

Whats with all the hate on these boards now.? So we have to consider who these young men play before their records are legit? What about vic hall should we put an asterisk beside his name? He played mostly 2 and 3a schools. Same with peerman.. MV was coming off back to back state championships last year and he ran all over them. These kids cant help who they play, there is not a school that plays powerhouses every week. He earned that record and prob several more this year. Quit hating and just congratulate him on some awesome accomplishments..

I wanted to say something but it might appear that I'm just looking to argue. Thanks Ridge.

Knucklebumps should know this being the announcer for salem. Yeah they get a couple good games a year but for the most part they get some easy games. Now them teams that are not that well play Salem tough due to its there "super bowl". Same thing with Staunton River with there recent success. For example the JFHS game last year was tough. I the scores a lot of the time doesn't show the toughness of the game with us. A lot of the games are a few stops away from being a totally different game. Yeah some may say Grayson wouldn't have the records without the offense we run. BUTTT we are not the only team running the wing. Knowing how Grayson is I'm sure he cares less about what the haters say. He earned it behind a great line that he gives all the credit to. But like I said we are not the only team running the wing. Many many many years and teams people have run the wing.

Overstreet totes the pill and runs like a grown *** man, he doesn't shy away from contact too often when it comes his way. The kid is a defensive player at the next level and if he keeps the work ethic and love for the game could make it to Sunday's. The kid has talent and could go to Bishop Sullivan and start alongside one the top linebackers in this class.

The time I saw Overstreet play, he was very tentative and avoided contact.

Mrjhamm, Did you see the state final last year? I have no dog in the fight, but although they lost, Overstreet never ran tentative or avoided contact against Blacksburg. He ran with authority all day. Did the Blacksburg d line bottle him up. Sure did, but I credit that to good coaching.

Same thing with Beck. He is a sound back, but gets the same invalid criticism.

You guys are adults and need to think about how you are bashing kids. This isnt football talk its nonsense.

Oh the difference is Bleeding Navy, I'm man enough to give credit where credit is due. The only time I saw Beck live was in the finals and your right like Overstreet was bottled up at times,SR too limited the playmaker Beck. Now what I will say that MrJhamm won't is, his guy has numerous highlights that showcase his ability. There's no disputing it. Why he is so against the kid I'll never understand. I guess some people just get really jealous of others success, I don't know. Again, I'll never understand that.
