Solid beer , pretty cheap too .. really available in most areas too . If you can ever get some St Bernardis Apt 12 it’s superb. A solid Oct Fedt beer is sierra Nevadas Oktoberfest beer .My favorite.
Has a great NE IPA last week , Ursa Minor brewery in Duluth Mn … Galactic Face Slap .

A guy was nice enough to send me a Pliny the Elder from California. This is a world class rate imperial ipa. It’s a unicorn beer for most of the country. I have to say idk what I was expecting but I’ve had a lot of this style of beer I enjoyed more. It’s good don’t get me wrong I just don’t know what made it rate 100 on beer advocate.
Pliny was a great beer when craft beer was a young thing. The beer scene has improved greatly since that time. I like Pliny, but don’t pine for it. Too many good beers to hunt for beers these days.
I got burned out on pumpkin ale several years ago but I still buy some every Fall. I have to admit, Kentucky Pumpkin Barrel Ale is delicious. 10% alc/vol.
I was just gifted two bottles of Pliny the Elder. Gonna chill and hope it’s worth the several years wait.
Brodgar Bere. Earthy. Rye taste. Distinct. Awesome malts. Checked in as "Historic Beer - Other" on Untappd. Part of early September Scottish haul. Purchased at Peedie bottle shop in Kirkwall, Orkney, Scotland.
Another celebratory beer: Tucher Original Nürnberger Rotbier. Roasty malts. Slightly aged. Excellent!

Benediktiner Weissbier. Oh la la. Gorgeous cloud. Nice banana accent. Lovely.
Another good wheat: Krombacher Weizen vom Faß (from keg or on draft). Much better than bottled.
Had some Snakes in a Barrel for an after Thanksgiving meal drink. That is a good stout.
Hit up 5 different breweries here in Bamberg. Two noted for smoked beers -- Aecht Schlenkerla and Spezial. Although Schlenkerla is more familiar to US beer drinkers, I personally thought Spezial brews a better product.
At any rate, Bamberg is truly a beer drinkers' city. Numerous cool and historical stuff.

Ha ha, just the name translated. It's a Munich Dark Lager. Malty. Not bad. Paid around $1.30 for a bottle including deposit.

Founders Double Oaked Imperial Stout. This is a fantastic beer. Lots of chocolate and coffee as you'd expect from an imperial stout. They finish this in fresh oak barrels so it makes for a slightly dry finish. This 12% sipper is my favorite Founders stout. Going to hold one back for a while and see how it ages.

Newer brewery in northern Ky -Fabled brewing Co — truly outstanding with 24-26 of their own beers plus 4-6 high end meads on tap. Best brewery in the tri state imo
Their Blue Moon knockoff, White Tide, is better than Blue Moon. That pilsner there is a good beer as well. I used to love their beer advent calendars until they switched to cans. They're now made by Octopi Brewing and they're just not very good. When they had bottles, it was from various breweries and they were all good.Wernesgrüner Pils. Purchased earlier today for $5.99/4 pack at Aldi in Pflugerville, TX. Great price for a decent, German-brewed pilsner.

Drinking one now (2025). Damn good for an 11.6% beer. Expensive but I recommend. Supposedly it'll be better with age. Yeah like that's going to happen.
Had a Mile Wide Ambrosia in the fridge when I got home. Decided it wasn't a bad evening to enjoy it before getting into the fall ales.
That is a big old ale. I usually split it with someone. May still have an aging one in my beer fridge.

Don't know why, but a good old Miller Lite poured into a frozen pint glass just goes down smooth the older I get.
Coors Light was my favoite a long time ago but it tastes disgusting now to me. Too watered down. I also drink some craft beers that are darker than old car engine oil. You couldn't handle them. I'm plenty sure of that.
Ya I’m sure I could I’ve drank all that stuff before it’s just wanting to be obese from drinking 15% abv anymore.
Thank goodness I've never been obese or even close to it. Obesity disgusts me. 15% beers are for drunks IMO. I only do 6 or 7, tops. I never drink more than one beer in a 24 hour period as I like real sleep too much.
Had several Deschutes Black Butte Porter last night. Great stuff. I will have to keep an eye out for the their Bock.
Belgian beers are probably my favorite, especially Trappist. I always get the urge to pick some up when the weather starts getting cool.
I went on a Trappist beer binge back in 2014. Local Sam's sold Chimay Red, White and Blue 3-packs with glass for $9.99. Loaded up on ten 3-packs. Heck, gave a few 3-packs away as gifts. Crazy cheap.
A year later, ran across Chimay Gold. Nowhere near as good as other, but decent. Pic below.
Spent a lot of time in Belgium my second tour in Germany. Worked with Belgian soldiers in a special weapons unit that had Americans, Germans, Brits, and Belgians. Most of the time that we went on field exercises we traveled to Belgium to do them and spent more than have of our time off duty with the Belgians. Went to many restaurants and bars eating great food and drinking a lot of Belgian beer.
The time of the year when I start drinking dark beers. Traveling this week and just polished off a Shiner Bock on draft and some buffalo wings w/ ranch.
