Just replenished the craft beer stock:

SixPoint HiRes
Founders Breakfast stout
Stone EnjoyBy 4-20-14 IPA
DFH Aprihop
Troegs Nugget Nectar

Ready for tonight's game (and beyond, hopefully)
Won't drink any Founders as they're Michigan based.

The overhead lighting was really dim when I snapped the pic with my Android. The image comes out crappy on a 2.9 MP Samsung. Yes, the label is definitely green. Heh, I even flew a bottle back in my luggage.

Yo bro! I want to say Breckinridge. But I am not 100% sure. That stuff was effing delightful.

Drinking this South east Asia beer at the moment. Tiger beer. It's good and tastes completely different than the Tiger beer in the U.S.

Austin, why do the same beers taste different in other countries? I'm not much of a Heinken guy, but it is completely different over here. Same goes for Carlsberg.

Man, hope things are going well with you.

Willy: Glad to hear you are enjoying your vacation. Have a blast. I wish only the best for y'all.

Heineken is a gigantically huge brewing concern. I believe the company has something like over 100 breweries in at least 65 countries. Unless it is draft, check the label on the bottle. Carlsberg Group also operates breweries in Malaysia. There's also a phenomenon embraced by corporations, such Coca Cola and Heinz, whereas production and ingredients are geared to local tastes, as in localization.

Back later.

Have a great time, brother!

Sucks is a great beer. Most places around here sold out a month or so ago unfortunately.

Over the weekend a buddy of mine brought over a bottle of Pliny the Elder, a Hopslam and I broke out my Stone EnjoyBy 4-20-14.

We poured and compared.

Pliny was all that. Delicious. Perfect. Best Mouthfeel.
Hopslam was more citrusy, but best finish. Honey sweet end.
EnjoyBy was the most exotic tasting and diverse. Intriguing and weird.

All were excellent.

It was cool to full on test all three together as they are very rare birds to come by.

A great one here if you see it, get it. but be careful. At 10% it's not a toy.

Playing mucho catching up.

#330: Lagunitas Cappucino Stout. 9.2% ABV. Managed to score two bottles of this stuff over the past couple months. Awesome flavor combo and finish. Super smooth. Solid A.

#331: Dogfish Head 90 IPA. 9% ABV. Yes, certainly "the truth", as one poster previously stated in the old thread. Love the crispness and character. Was fairly trashed after a 4-pack. Solid A.

More to follow over the next week or so. "Stay thirsty, my friends". Muh ha ha ha ha!

Had a couple big boys tonight:

Great flavor, but this is strong and develops that "cough syrup" aftertaste strong ales and barleywines tend to get. Still really dang good

Then this momma

Just great all around. English style old ale and an English-ish IPA blended. Woah. Definite 5 star

Transy- that Barton's is damn good.

Austin- That 90 minute is my usual beer to drink.

I had that new Mexican IPA- It has skeletons or some **** on the bottle. I'll post it later. It's good, but I have a feeling In Bev owns it. Which makes me not want to drink it again.

I know what you are talking about and have wanted to try the new Mexican stuff for a few months now. It's on the "To-Do" list, but so far the price turned me off ($9.99/6pk). Here in TX, the styles offered are IPA, Hefeweizen, Porter and Pils, I think.

Definitely interested in your feedback about this brew, brother.

For those in the Louisville area, I highly recommend checking out Great Flood Brewing Company in the Douglass Loop. Stopped in there today to check them out and they do good beer.

They have a very small brewing capacity, so the tap list is going to change constantly, but the beers I tried there were all pretty well done.

The Citra IPA was a bit harsh on the aftertaste side, but still a decent IPA.
The blackberry wheat was good - subtle fruit flavor, and very drinkable.
The Rye IPA was a very smooth, well hopped beer - my #2 on the list.
The brown ale was exceptional. I'm an IPA guy, but it stole the show.

Ignored the KY Common, as it is a totally vile, nasty style of beer and nobody can make that ish taste good.

Good guys running the place, and they definitely want to make good beer. Gonna have growing pains, but they seem to be off to a good start.

Picked up some Old Rasputin Imperial stout from North Coast brewing. Very good, a world class ranked imperial, but of the Imperials I've had I though Samuel Smiths was a little better. This is a great beer though.

I don't know if posted this before, but if you can get your hands on Kentucky Dark Star from Fremont Brewing, do it. My favorite stout, far and away. Since I'm in a stout kind of mood I will take this time to recommend my two other favorite stouts/coffee stouts: Stone's Espresso IRS and Goose Island's Bourbon County Coffee Stout.

Try those...now

#332: Reissdorf Koelsch: Just 4.8% ABV. Tried Gaffel, Dom and Frueh Koelsch beers in Cologne. Purchased the 0.2/L (6.75 oz) glass at Kaufhof, Cologne, Germany in July 2012, but unable to try the beer until tonight. This bottle motivated me to rethink my opinion of this style. Tiny touch of spice. Lovely finish and mouth feel. A beautiful example from the old country. Definitely plan to give this an encore sampling. Solid A.

More catching up.

#333: Aecht Schlenkerla Eiche Doppelbock. 8% ABV. From what I gather, this brew is a seasonal. Found this at our local Spec's. Somewhat sweet, yet the smoked flavor appeared comparatively subtle. It offered a wonderful balance of caramel and vanilla, which complimented the smoke. The thin head is probably due to the fact that the bottle was cold. No disappointments in store for true smoked aficionados. Solid A.

#334: Alaskan Icy Bay IPA. 6.2% ABV. Love the pine front-end and finish. Decent head. IPA fans should find this brew pleasing. B+.

#335 Shiner Koelsch Brewer's Pride #5. 4.9% ABV. Found a 24 oz bottle of this brew. Compared to the Germans, particularly Reissdorf, the beer was disappointing. Compared to American Koelsch, it is competitive. Nice head. Light and crisp. A noble attempt at emulating the style. B to B-.

Has anyone tried a Laughing Lab? It's a Scottish ale that's brewed by Bristol Brewing Company in Colorado Springs, CO. I've guzzled several of them and think they're quite good.

Recently had an "IBA" at a very small brewery up in Hayden, ID. It's basically a hopped up brown ale. Haven't really had anything like it before and I was very impressed. Almost bought a growler, just so I could take some home

If you find something bottled, let me know.

I'm sure this guy and his brother weren't the first to do it, but he said they didn't work off a recipe. They just threw some extra hops they had laying around in their standard brown ale. I mean Dogfish Head has their India Brown obviously, but the brew I had was WAY hoppier than that. Sort of a true 50/50 between the styles.

Kyfan606- I like Pabst. WHen that ***** ice cold. It's hard to beat a better cheap beer. Props to Pabst.

Austin, buddy, I bought this beer tonight and thought you. This thing tastes awesome. It's a Goose Island. I actually hated Goose Island because I heard that In-Bev company (or whoever the company is that owns Budweiser) was helping to distribute it. Plus I drank one of their IPAs and it sucked. But Transy on here said it was good and so I listened to that ****. Ended up drinkin a DIPA called The Illinois. Awesome beer. and When I saw this beer, I bought it. Glad I didn't get stubborn and write them off. I'm still wishing nothing but the worst for In-Bev, but Goose Island is good.

Pere Jacques is a very good beer.

My understanding is In-Bev is mass producing the regular beers so Goose Island can focus on the craft beers such as bourbon county.

To me that's a win win if goose island can spend more energy doing what they do best.

Wesley- Regular beers? Do you mean Goose Islands regular beer? Yeah that Ipa gave me a headache just like Bud, but their specialty beers are awesome. Worth stabbing someone if you could get away with it

Not seen anyone post about Country/Western V2. The West 6th/Country Boy collaboration. Bourbon Barrel Ale sweetened with local KY sorghum.

Im not even a bourbon barrel beer fan. But this beer is incredible.
