Great game for Raycom Wednesday night. UGA @ UT. Real barn burner there.

This **** happens every year. I wish basketball had a policy like football where the TV games get picked up 2 weeks before. If ESPN is set on announcing their Tuesday SEC games before the season then more power to them. However, Raycom and SEC-TV should have to wait. Further, I can't remember a season when neither of the MSU/LSU nor MSU/BAMA games were televised.

of the season.

Even their announcers are talking about its importance in their commentary today.

It's really big for both teams, probably more critical for us than for LSU, but if LSU wins, they will stand alone as king of the mountain and the national media will probably start to notice with top 25 vote, etc.

I'm glad they plastered Bama today. That enlarges our opportunity to do something special Wednesday night.
Also, I think it would have further damaged the image of the SEC to have Bama beat LSU today. When we beat them Wednesday, we might get a little ink out of it. We have earned a certain amount of respect over the last several seasons. We are also demanding notice by topping or nearly toppping the national stats in blocks, defense, three points shots, etc.

We've been written off, but we're trying damn hard to write ourselves back on.

They didn't "pass up" a significant game. That's the problem. They passed up a regular old LSU @ MSU game when they set the conference TV schedule 5 months ago. There is a reason the football schedule is set no more than 2 weeks in advance, and sometimes 5 days in advance. They do the smart things and wait to see how the season plays out. I'll never understand why they don't do the same for basketball. Hell, they already to it for the last regular season weekend.

I don't think it's a rules thing. At least it wasn't in 2002 when I asked the SEC guy in charge of basketball media relations this very question. His answer then was the networks don't like having to make arrangements to mobilize everything with only two weeks notice. They want to know which town to book rooms in, etc., way in advance. That's crap if you ask me.
