If yall want to switch carriers go ahead but I wouldn't do it just because they don't yet have SEC network. It's all posturing. All the the major cable/satellite will have it by the first game.

And may I inquire as to how you possess that knowledge?

I was paying about $120 (taxes and everything) for...

TV: 2 HD boxes, 1 with DVR, HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, Starz, Sports Package
Internet: 50 MB Internet
Home Phone

It's now jumped to $155 but I am thinking of adding Comcast home security service - switching from ADT - and it's only going to be $10/more month and that's with adding Comcast X1 platform. That gives ability to record 4 programs and all that like Uverse. But I am waiting on them to add SEC Network before I do it. If they don't have it by July 15 - I am moving to UVerse. At least that is my thought now. Come July 15 - I will probably push the date back to August 1st b/c I really don't feel like switching.

Let's be honest - I probably won't switch.

Only a few providers had the Pac-12 and Big10 Networks when they premiered. Most signed on a year later. These deals usually take time. I don't expect many more to be signed up by the first game.

Funny thing, I went to Uverse and typed in my address to see it is offered in my area and it said no. A few days later I asked my neighbor who they carry service with and they said Uverse. Not sure what to do. 400.00 gift card would be pretty good.

This ain't the Big 10 or PAC-12 networks. This is a much bigger deal than either of those was or is.

That's pretty bad. The only game I'd care to watch and be able to watch is Tx A&M at South Carolina. I'll just stick it out with DTV.

Anyone heard anything about Metrocast? They were bought out just this week by some other non big name company. With this going down, I'm assuming SEC Network before games start will be out question if it was even going to happen at all. I guess its time to start exploring my options.

I count 7 games I'd like to watch (not knowing what is opposite of them). I will ultimately switch for the SEC network if necessary, but in the short term, any game I really want to watch I will leave the house to catch.

I can have Uverse Internet and TV at my house (I have Uverse Internet and Directv) The houses across the street cannot get Uverse TV or Internet. Very bizarre.

Charter is all-but official just like comcast. Even allegedly sending out pamphlets with "a channel lineup change" with an unnamed sports network...Time Warner and DTv are playing with fire.

Btw, it's going to be in 4 to 6 times as many homes as the b1g was at launch...

My Uverse is $90 for one main box, two wireless boxes, HBO, Showtime, Starz and some others, not a bad deal. I don't think I have Cinemax but I'm not sure. With no contract you can just switch again of you don't like it. That's pre-tax though, it's like $102 with tax. My 50MBps internet is another $40, Uverse does not offer anything faster than 18 in my hood. Only the main box has the actual recordings, but any box can schedule or view, and of course pause, etc. I'd like a fourth box but that just sounds ridiculous as I live by myself.

If your neighbor has it you can fill out a we page and they'll check

To see if it can be extended to your house. I did that and surprise, it showed up two weeks later.

I wonder what level of cable package it will require?

I'm already paying those bastards way too much.

This is correct. Uverse is basically never fiber to the house. It's fiber to the site, then copper to the ped, then copper to the house. As such, it's copper for the remaining distance -- and there becomes a degradation/latency issue with greater distances from the site. Funny thing is that since uverse basically makes the second pair running to your house useless(VoIP no longer tones in a traditional phone sense), they can often stack pairs and add another 50% or so to the distance capability they "advertise as possible" in order to stretch uverse availability. Even further if you've got a 5pr to the house. Getting them to actually do this is a whole different issue though and will depend on the quality of the people you speak with...

I got a letter from AT&T about now I can get digital Cable, phone and internet. I thought well I guess Uverse is there but then I continued to read and it was for Direct TV. Does AT&T own Direct TV or something?

Had something similar happen..

Website said Uverse wasn't available in my neighborhood. Seemed odd since, for Uverse specifically, they were installing those little boxes that lower the voltage or something for the fiber cables in all of the houses. Turns out they had our neighborhood addresses as Jackson, MS 39042. So a Jackson address with a Brandon proper zip. Oh, and we live in 39047. DTV dishes were going up all over until I went on another twitter rant and got somebody to actually come out to the neighborhood.

You would think that since Metrocast serves at least 3 SEC towns that I know of: Oxford, Starkville, and Tuscaloosa, that they would surely be on board with picking up the network. But I haven't heard a peep about it. I just can't see them not doing it and having to deal with all of those pissed off Alabama fans.

They're in the process of getting approval to merge. But AT&T has had a partnership agreement with DirectTV so they can market bundled TV/phone/Internet packages like the other major players can.
