The Afternoon Underdogs just read a press release from Tom Jurich
in which he admits that information was received from Elrod.
I can't wait to see where this goes...

“We have looked further into the matter surrounding the Wake Forest information released on Tuesday.

Our offensive coordinator Lonnie Galloway and Tommy Elrod have known each other since 2007. Lonnie received a call from Elrod during the week of the Wake Forest game, and some information was shared with him that week.

Among the communication were a few plays that were sent and then shared with our defensive staff. None of the special plays were run during the course of the game. Our defense regularly prepares for similar formations every week in their normal game plan.

Any other information that may have been discussed was nothing that our staff had not already seen while studying Wake Forest in their preparations for the game and the material was not given any further attention. I’m disappointed that this issue has brought undue attention to our football staff as we prepare for our upcoming bowl game.”

Yep nothing to see hear lol. Damn they should get slammed on this. Pattern of sleaziness

Less than a month ago Petrino came out and unequivocally denied anyone on staff having done this. They are all crooked buffoons.

Well, that's not the entire transcript of Jurich's statement. Let me release the rest:

"After having looked further into the matter, and determining that the information was exactly the information that could otherwise be gleaned from public film of Wake Forest, the University and I undertook an in depth investigation into whether the information was, in fact, detrimental to the team's preparation.

To date it appears that it took approximately 18 hours of study by our defensive staff, before somebody told Petrino ," . . . . ah, Hell, Bob, this is the same **** you can pick up on film, or a decently written SI article."

Given the hours expended by our staff in studying the information provided, the University is certain, that, in fact, its provision to our defensive staff caused significant developmental stress to the entire defense, and actual eye strain to our coaches and players. Just a matter of a couple of weeks after the Wake Forest game, we entered into a two game losing streak, during which some commentators stated that Louisville's secondary was too slow to keep up with Houston and Kentucky receivers. In fact, after "Juice" Johnson's second 60 yard plus touchdown reception, two of our defensive backs were upbraided by Coach Petrino, but responded, "hell Coach, we could keep up with Johnson, if we could SEE him."

Further, we have determined, that because Wake Forest did not use the plays that our staff had procured, the entirety of the matter is simply a Trojan Horse, although unlike prior alleged scandals associated with this University, I am certain no used Trojans were found near any football facility.

Perhaps the greatest detriment to our program was the date and timing of the provision of the subject information, coinciding directly with both a major Jewish and a major Muslim holiday, dates which the University assiduously avoids scheduling Tuesday night ESPN football games, out of respect for our amazingly diverse urban-oriented fan base.

I have asked our attorneys to look into this matter in which the University has, again, been abused. This might well be the lowest anyone has stooped to ruin the reputation of our University sports programs since prostitutes forced themselves into a university dorm, and then forced themselves onto prospective recruits. Some with longer memories might recall that our Men's Basketball Coach was similarly assaulted a few years ago. Fortunately, Coach Pitino was able to effectively discharge his duties as our Coach - - - - a discharge that came a mere 13 seconds after the assault began."

The best part is theres a thread over on the Louisville board that was demanding Sports Illustrated retract their libelous story and that the University should sue. The right people will hear about this!!!!!

Today?

The whole world knew Bobby Petrino had zero character when he was hired and he shows it almost everyday. He is who he is and will not change. UL has no problem with that and he wins on the field. So all is well in their world but you know his fellow coaches have to hate his guts and I bet somebody out there is working hard to bring him down. He has had so many chances that when he falls again he may not have anyone to pick him up. Time will tell.

And a major peice of the problem is this (quoting the article)
"Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich knows fans won’t fill his stadium to watch great sportsmanship."
How true. Even here, it was just a few short weeks ago when UL was still in the playoff conversation and UK was sitting at 2-3 that several on here were saying "we should have had Petrino" with lines like "this is big time football" and "we need a coach, not a sunday school teacher".

Well, this is what you get when you sacrifice your morals to "just win baby"

Not indicting anyone among the many - hopefully a majority - of UK fans who wouldn't have hired Petrino to sweep the stands after a game. But far too many were ready to overlook a shady, if not downright illegal, background to get Petrino or some other tainted but winning coach.

CFootball will never clean itself up until the fans either demand it or leave becuase cheating becomes so rampant that the games no longer have any relevency, which is exactly why MLB is so touchy about gambling. They know that if the fans ever become convinced that nothing is on the up and up, they'll stop paying to watch. Unfortunately, in my view, it has to get pretty bad before that happens.

UL fans should be embarrassed and ashamed with what their Athletic Dept. has become.

Well we know guys like Zipp, Steelers and some of those who are scum don't care....but you know some do have to be embarrassed and ashamed.

Parents who send their kids to Petrino and Pitino are idiots. How can you expect a Coach to teach your child, ethics, discipline and fair play when they have none of these traits.

Elrod and Galloway were only discussing their kids. Just like Bill Clinton and Loretta Lynch. Why would anyone think there were sinister thought about a football game. Come on posters, get real.

OLD STOLL FIELD GUY!

The only thing that Jurich omitted is that he is pissed that they got caught. THAT is all that matters to that scumbag.

The honest an upstanding thing for UofL to do would to be to not look
at the information and immediately contact the Wake coaching staff.

Then there would be no question of their integrity and then they
wouldn't be *** deep in damage control...

You can't be serious. This is UL we're discussing here.
