will be on a strict pitch count this year. I don't think they're going to mess around with extending him too much- if I had to guess, his max for this year will be 100 pitches, and when/if he starts on Sunday, he will only be around 50-60 max or less.
And as a sidenote- a lot of people may not realize this, but Evan Mitchell was somewhat injury prone in high school. Last year, he only pitched in a handful of games because he got hit in the face with a baseball during a game while playing SS that ended his season last year. He has already pitched as much at MSU right now as he has last year. He also has missed a lot of his junior year due to an arm injury. My point is I think the coaching staff is going to be very careful about overworking him and asking him to do too much. For him to be a starting pitcher in the SEC, he really needs to add some muscle to his frame. He may make some midweek starts, or more than likely will come out of the bullpen for the rest of this year.
