I never thought we'd have a chance today going through long stretches without the extension center and Jarvis.

We didn't quit on the season.

Wasnt it known it was because he refused to play much defense? He had the chance early on in the season if I recall

The worse thing Stans could do is turn the team over to some showboat who isnt going to play team ball. I am going to go ahead and assume that is the reason he hasn't been playing. It is Stans way or the highway....and that is one of the reasons he is highly successful. Excellent coaching job this season by Coach Stans after losing our two All-SEC players last season....it was an outstanding job.

has coincided with Augustus stepping up. Whatever happened for most of the year, I am glad its changed now. Just wish it would have happened earlier. Stans biggest recruiting might be convincing him to stay with everyone returning.

People forget Rhodes sat some when his attitude was not that good and he turned out okay. For all the soothsayers on here who have been saying it was all Stans fault, they haven't talked to any coaches or players. Most of the coaches know he has great potential and the players will tell you he has gotten a better understanding and is happy. Now I know that shocks folks but it is true. Most folks on this board said we'd never go 9-7. With a little luck, we could be at least 10- 6 or better. If folks are going to blast Stans coaching in losses, they have to give him credit today, two experienced players riding the pine in foul trouble and UM changing defenses constantly and our young players did well. Next year is going to be fun if Jarvis comes back.

Wasnt it known that Ravern STILL plays crap defense, and yet has started the whole year? If poor D is the reason why he not only stopped starting, but actually sat on the bench for games at a time, then Stans needs to do the same for Ravern. Something tells me he wont...

Correct....he was in the same doghouse with Sharpe for a while, but then Sharpe moved on up on the East side by himself.

I don't know why he didn't play for 2 months or who's fault it was. Maybe he just had his head up his *** and Stans did the right thing by sitting him, or maybe Stans should have been playing him all along. But he's what this team was missing during the losing streak (and dawgstudent and fishwater can attest that I told them both just that last Tuesday night before the Florida game). The 4-guard lineup was a good adjustment for a little while, but overall it was a failed experiment.

Is Kodi's new found playing time really due to Kodi turning the corner or Stans feeling some pressure to make something happen?

I don't think that he has any concerns this year, but combine a flop this season with a team next year sans Brian Johnson, Augustus, and possibly Varnado, and Stans has to be a little nervous. Especially with no big man coming in next year to date.

Neither of us know the whole story, but do you not think there was a reason he was sat for a good bit of the year? He did something to get into Stansbury's doghouse and was sat for it

Talk to any of the coaches and they will tell you it was all about effort and attitude. He finally got it, so hopefully he has turned the corner. All the expert coaches will never know because they don't talk to anybody other than this board. I doubt Coach 34 has ever had a discussion with Stans or any of his assistants, much less any players. It isn't going to matter to Extreme, Coach, or any of the other bashers. If Stans gets to the Final Four, they'll then belittle him for not winning the National Championship. Same song, same dance every Sat and Wed, like a broken record. Meanwhile, Rod Barnes, Gottfried, Brady, and now Kennedy, will get accolades all the time. I really wonder if they have unrealistic expectations are possibly closet Rebels. Who cares.

You and others can't accept the possibility that it's the truth.

Funny how Richard Williams did the same thing with Dontae Jones, even benching him for a time, but when Stansbury benches an obviously talented player, it's because he's an idiot and has no idea what he's doing.

Jeebus.

b/c I don't know what Augustus looks like in practice. And I don't know what's going through Augustus's head. Its just so dumb for someone to make an argument that amounts to "Rick is right b/c he told me he is right"

Williams actually ran off Anthony Blakeley and Hubert Henderson who both could play. Some folks thought he did it as a scapegoat for losing but Blakeley could play and led Gulfport to the state title and then played in Europe for 8 years. Now, what the 17 is your next argument?

had trouble beating Delta-freaking-St...

Henderson lettered 3 years, so he was run off before his Sr year? Find me some people starting in 1990-1997 that he ran off to hurt the program

Exactly. Richard Williams sits guys and has a "do it my way or don't play" mentality with his team and he is a genius who is doing what's best for our team. Rick Stansbury has the same mentality and he's holding us back and sacrificing wins for his personal agenda. Its a ridiculous double standard.
