Most 1A players play offense, defense and special teams without ever leaving the field. It does deserve some respect in that regard.

in small ball doesn't come close to what USP has done in 5A..........89 straight wins...........Weir can't touch that.....If you want to get picky, then Taylorsville or Louisville have as much right to argue their point as Weir.......

I believe they have won at least 2 state titles in each of the last three decades and are undefeated all time in title games since the change to 1,2,3,4,5A classes. Although SP's run during the past decade is unprecendented and may never be matched (unless they do it again this next one) it is hard to argue the tenure of Louisville. They have never shyed away from playing tough competition out of division either (West Point, Meridian, Tupelo, Wayne Co., etc..). Say what you want but I would have loved to see '93 South Panola team play the '93 Louisville team. I know that SP had a half dozen D-1 players but Louisville' D was just sick that year....(4.3 pts per game allowed).

most wins in the history of Mississippi high school football. They have a **** load of Big 8 titles and 3 state championships. Maybe not a dynasty, but one of the most if not the most consistent program ever since high school football has been played.

Up until Bill Lee <17>'d it up, Starkville was a damn good program. Not many teams in MS history better than those 95-96 squads.

Depends on the poll, but I wish the MHSAA would have let them play at the end of the year like was talked about.

Leland Young was a good coach, I played at Leland High from 85-89, we beat Rosedale twice in 89, regular season, and playoffs. Amory ended our run in 89 as well.

3 State Championships, and they were always in contention for the better part of the 80's. What he did at Benoit (Ray Brooks) was just as amazing. He built the program completely from scratch. They won State in 2005, after he had died, but he got them to that point in only a few years.
