So I’ve been a slacker and haven’t picked up the sticks this year besides a couple of paid tournaments. I went to book a tee time for this weekend and one course Tiger Point was $94 before 12 and $74 after and the other course near me is $84 before 12 and $74 after. That’s absurd. Those same courses were $54 and $49 after 12 last year. Have courses around your areas also skyrocketed?

Yep and cart rental prices are all over the place too. I paid $30 to rent a cart a while back.

Yes, they've all gone up. It's now $60 to play 18 at freaking Wedgewood in OB.

YES!

but what are you gonna do? Not golf? That would be absurd.

Just blame Biden and pay up to tee up.
It honestly is pushing me towards getting a membership. When it was $54 I would have to have played 6 times a month to justify an afternoon membership, now it’s only 4.

I said I was going to wait until Florida went DST all year long but if I want to start playing again it’s the smart way to go.

You know what it costs to pay Americans to cut grass? If you want fewer tren de aragua, you got to pay for it.

Good lord. I got an early morning tee time at Dancing Rabbit Sunday morning and it’s $50 with your NCF wristband. I did not think that was a terrible price.
But anywhere around Jackson just get ready for $70 minimum from what I’ve found

The nicer courses around me are around $65 to play. I play Mystic Creek in El Durado about once a month and every time i play, it has gone up $10-15 each time. But it’s super nice. I expect to pay more for nice fairways and greens, and it’s worth it to me. Ain’t doing it for bouncing greens and fairway divots the size of the cart.

What was the condition of the course? Sadly, it ain't what it used to be.

I stopped playing right after covid because of this reason. Added up my golf expenses for 9 months and all in it was close to $10K. (GF's, carts, equipment, etc..)

For me, I can't be a decent player unless I play a lot and I'm no longer willing to pay what it costs to play a lot.

And also.. about the most frustrating thing in the world is having a membership to some local course and them booking tournaments 3 of every 4 weekends during the summer.

I doubt I ever go back to it.

That has been my complaint almost everywhere. Course conditions suffered during COVID, but now players are back, greens fees are high, and the courses still dont get the care they need.

My club has really let its short game practice area suffer. It was one of my favorite perks, but I guess they cant monetize it, so it doesn't get much maintenance.

I stopped playing because all my friends and family I played with stopped playing too. Everybody got married and had kids and jobs that made it hard to play.

Back in the day if we got rained out we would go golfing with other farmers but those days are gone. There’s always something else we’ve got to be doing or working on those “down” days.

The nicest course around here, they won't even let you see it save for one week in April each year, so I dont bother with golf. Biggest waste of prime real estate...golf courses and cemeteries.

I play a couple of courses that are $30 each. They are not nice by any means but neither is my game anymore. Twice a week one of them does all you can play for $25. I joined one of them and as long as I play 38 times a year, it pays for itself. I'll do that in the fall and spring easily.

A friend of mine invited me to play on his local 9-hole course called Sweetens Cove. I passed. 9-holers are goat ranches.

I love to walk a 9 hole with a cart. Most 9’s are old municipal courses who have been passed by but there’s still some good golf to be had on some of them.

Sweeten Cove, you missed a great course that is eclectic and fun to play.
Resort golf is North of $300-$350 and the tee sheet is booked solid through the fall here in SW Missouri

If you’re in the Memphis area. Glen Eagle, on the Naval Base in Millington, is a steal. $43 covers greens fees and a cart on weekends. The course is in good shape, greens are very good for a public course.

I was joking. I really want to get up there and play it. Heard nothing but great things about the place.

Guest fee with a cart at PCC is about $90
Hasn’t gone up in about 10 years. Still waiting on that TRH gift card

The par 3? My friend got a membership last year and we played it. Greens were fantastic for what the course is. Beer was cheap too but the guy in the pro shop had to give us warm ones because we emptied the cooler.

I also see the TRH comment. Lol

Play it often. Great little course for your short game. One Course is another cheap 9 hole on 59 north of gulf shores, around $30. It's part of the Craft Farms complex.

I love that course. Play it at least twice when we go in OCtober every year.
