Congrats on joining the Beavers in Omaha. I look foward to watching some great baseball. It seems with the national seeds gone this is the "easier" side but I don't agree with that. Pitching is loaded on this side. The teams rank 2,5,6 and 11 in team era. I think you guys and Louisville have 2 of the best bullpens in the country.
My guess is that OSU starts Boyd or Wetzler against you guys since they are lefties and from what I have read you have more trouble with lefties. OSU also seems to struggle more with lefties as well so if one of your guys is a lefty he might get the start Saturday.
OSU's bullpen hasnt been as good lately as they have been for most of the season. The reason Boyd was brought in to close out the game is because KSU was hitting the righties out of the pen and the lefty closer engelbrekt was out with back spasms. Hopefully he is back for Omaha because he has been lights out for us the last couple weeks while the regular closer, Shultz, has been in a little bit of a slump. Bryant from the pen is great when he is on but he just isn't consistent enough to know what you will get from him. Jace fry has some really good stuff but is just getting back in after tommy John surgery so he is a little rusty.
Looks like OSU will have to get their runs early with your pen and hope the starters last. In the last 28 games OSU has gotten 27 starts of 6 or more innings with 3 or less earned runs given up.
KSU absolutely grinder out at bats and got the OSU starters pitch counts higher than normal. That teams has an insane hitting line up. 8 of the 9 starters are I've .300 the 9th guy is at .297. Fortunately for OSU their pitching wasnt as strong.
