As is the case when you're the established power, Duke comes into a really exciting time in Tallahassee. This will be most important game for the Noles in nearly 25 years. I've seen my fair share of Duke games over the years here, and this might be the first time in that time that I'd say we should feel like we should win considering the team we have and how well we've been playing.

That said, I'm very low on confidence considering the histories of the programs and the still considerable gap in talent according to the recrutniks. If the Blue Devils play their A game, it will take us something existential to win.

Obviously, with the recent news around Grayson, our fans will be downright merciless whenever he is involved in the game. Apologies in advance for some of the shenanigans they might display, but all in all, I expect this game to be about the high level of play and not just his history with XRM and a few other players.

Generally, I always think the key to beating you guys is to limit the opportunities from 3 and to not turn the ball over. Our 3 point defense has been up and down, but turnovers have been kept in check all year. I think the opening minutes of the game may be more than we are prepared for, and that you'll see some sloppiness from our guys. We've worn people down with our depth this year, and with the terrible luck suffered again by Amile, that increases the chances that this strategy will pay dividends again.

I really, in some ways, wish this game was at Cameron and that the late season game was in Tally. I think you guys are still a fair ways away from reaching your ceiling, so lessening the advantage of home court now would be a possibility given the current circumstances.

Hopefully, the litmus that your team normally provides will answer the question most Noles still need to be convinced of, which is that we really have an opportunity to make a run this year.

I hope you guys get your team and coach healthy soon and that we have 3 battles this year, either in Brooklyn or beyond.

I've always liked Hamilton as a coach and like your teams size and athleticism.
I would only expect any home crowd to get into Grayson's head and hopefully he is prepared for it.
Look forward to the battle

At this point in the season, I feel Duke loses this game on the road. Duke will definitely need to be on and hitting their shots and rebound well. Giles and Bolden really need to step up to have a shot. FSU looks really good right now and will get better and Hamilton is a heck of a coach. I just hope they go at UNC as hard as they do Duke.

We've played well there before with lesser teams. I think we actually match up a bit better with Carolina as they tend to play less tenacious defense. I don't think they'll have very much luck getting out on the break against us with the way we rotate. That's usually when it becomes a real problem. I'd love to win both, but I consider protecting home court more of a need than getting a win in away, especially given the current rankings.

FSU hoops attendance at Civic Center has been atrocious this season. I wonder if that place will be full to the gills on Tues nite?

FSU is a very good team and a solid hoops program. They have beaten Duke many times on their home floor.

OP, if FSU beats Duke in Tally, do the fans rush the court, again?

Gawd I hope not, but have to remember that a bunch of these fans have no idea what basketball success tastes like. It is the same as when fans storm the field after beating FSU at football. It is just a way to enjoy something that they basically forget the next day because our success hasn't been substantial enough to breed a good basketball fanbase

I'd say 80/20 they do at this point. If we by some chance win comfortably, I'd say that we shouldn't. Polls should come out soon and we might be as high as 8th. Can't remember the last time a team ranked that high rushed the court.

The fans will enjoy themselves, unapologetically, no matter what preachy nostrums or bb genetic posturing SWF commends. This is a very different FSU squad than we have seen: depth, talent, length and aggressive pressure. They have the capacity to wear teams out. Indeed, this team has been a very enjoyable surprise for many of us. I expect a good game, and I expect FSU to come out with a W.

THey should enjoy themselves. However when you are ranked in the top 10 (or most likely will be later today) and probably favored to win a game on your home court. you don't rush the court. However, I don't remember the last time Duke lost on an opposing court and not had the court rushed. (maybe at UNC?)

In the end the students should do what they want as long as it doesn't get out of hand.

I get all that. I am not a fan of the court/field storming unless it is a big deal. Nowadays, it seems like the cool thing to do. It has lost its value IMO.

Either way, FSU is really good and I was one who had them in the top 4 of the loaded ACC preseason. I think they can sustain that and maybe go deep in the big dance.

agreed with the last part especially, I just worry with our availability of alcohol in the arena and a few other factors, that our school ends up somehow being cast in the spotlight for a negative reason

Really impressed with your team at FSU this year. As people mentioned, the size and athleticism on the squad makes you guys very dangerous this season and Isaac has a chance to be special. Unfortunate that we might not have Amile for the game because we really need him against that frontline. Bolden needs to step up and Chase hopefully will be available in order for us to have a realistic chance tomorrow.

Just so I understand: is there a rule about a top ten team's fans not rushing the court? It would be more fun if fans rushed the court after a hard-fought win against, say, BC. Now they would be some crazy fans.

Your sarcasm aside, I just do not like the court rushing thing. I am of the opinion, act like you have done it before. Especially when you have done it before. That's just me and I understand that people don't all agree with me.

They should rush anyway, win or lose. It's the only time all year they'll have enough fans there to do it. ;)

That's kinda truthful, but there are lots of people that haven't fully bought in that are coming aboard after each contest. I think a victory against Duke could boost attendance by 15 to 20 percent for the remainder of the season. Then for some of the more marquee matchups, like ND and Louisville, we may still get a sellout. UNC we would for sure but we only play them away this year.

Thanks for stopping by, SWF.

Personally, I never feel good about games in Tallahassee. The crowd is always really hyped up (most are when hosting Duke, but I feel like it's especially rowdy there) and your guys always bring it. Should be a fun game! I think it will be close throughout and whoever takes better care of the ball wins. Regardless of the outcome, I think both teams find out a lot about themselves.

I was only kidding with ya anyway - FSU looks great this year, they deserve great crowds.

I tend to agree, although I don't really have a problem with it when it's a school who really hasn't "done it" before, or a game-winning buzzer beater where emotion and excitement takes over. It doesn't bother me nearly as much as the "overrated" chant. Never understood that. You're just devaluing a good win.

Without Amile (especially this being first game without him and there is a learning curve) I think FSU takes the home contest.

We still have the payers without Amile to take the game, just do not think we have the team yet.

We have the horses, and we could come out with a chip, so I say we still play the game and see what happens before we crown FSU the winner of the night.

Duke rushed against VT in Cameron in '05. I say meh. College kids want any excuse to be on the floor. It's gonna happen. But I see what your saying @denniden. I think it shows that your fans really just "get it" when they hold off and celebrate from the grandstands. I prefer that method, but I'm guilty of a court rush when Tech beat the Heels. Haha.

This is gonna be a tough one. FSU attacks well, runs in transition well, and has stupid size. Like the biggest collection of players I've seen in college in maybe ever. Those three things individually give Duke fits, but altogether. Yikes. On top of that they have a good offense, which you rarely see out of a Hamilton team. Couple that with a typical Hamilton defense, and you have a monster squad.

This will be tough and thank you @SWFNole9 for visiting respectfully.

I was involved in a court storming while I was there. I think it was against Maryland. Would have been somewhere between fall 1998 and spring 2000.

Sean's shot drove everyone a bit crazy I think:)

And yeah, a polite visitor is a great visitor. Some forums are just full of aggressive, angry folks who cannot handle fans from other schools, even when they are polite... always good to strive to NOT be that!:)

Hi guise. Gonna to be a battle tomorrow night. Nobody on FSU's roster has ever experienced any real success and the top 10 ranking might be a bit much for them to handle right now. Duke winning big might do more for this FSU team than FSU winning. Game is sold out so should be a great crowd and the fact you can drink beer or hard liquor all game should help the atmosphere. We are very deep this year and there isn't much drop off when we do an entire line change. Probably the best team FSU has had since the early 90's. I do think we should win this game on paper but it wouldn't surprise me if Duke comes out on fire and beats us with the three ball. Also, really hope we don't storm the court if we win but you will have 4,000 students, half of which are wasted and at their first basketball game of the year so it will most likely happen.

Haha, no worries. We make fun of the canes the same way in football. It's nice when you get the opposing teams to raise their level just because of the name on the jersey

I thought there was a good chance we lose this one when Amile was healthy, now I'm shifting to REALLY good chance we lose this one. But as the OP mentioned, I think our ducks are a bit more in a row for the second meeting.

Yeah, by that time Tatum and Giles will be seasoned by the grind of the conference schedule, and Allen should be distanced from the issues he is dealing with now. If Amile is back and healthy, that could be a real barn burner.

Bad JUJU always surfaces for us in that place. I think they use voodoo dolls or something down there.
