As is the case when you're the established power, Duke comes into a really exciting time in Tallahassee. This will be most important game for the Noles in nearly 25 years. I've seen my fair share of Duke games over the years here, and this might be the first time in that time that I'd say we should feel like we should win considering the team we have and how well we've been playing.
That said, I'm very low on confidence considering the histories of the programs and the still considerable gap in talent according to the recrutniks. If the Blue Devils play their A game, it will take us something existential to win.
Obviously, with the recent news around Grayson, our fans will be downright merciless whenever he is involved in the game. Apologies in advance for some of the shenanigans they might display, but all in all, I expect this game to be about the high level of play and not just his history with XRM and a few other players.
Generally, I always think the key to beating you guys is to limit the opportunities from 3 and to not turn the ball over. Our 3 point defense has been up and down, but turnovers have been kept in check all year. I think the opening minutes of the game may be more than we are prepared for, and that you'll see some sloppiness from our guys. We've worn people down with our depth this year, and with the terrible luck suffered again by Amile, that increases the chances that this strategy will pay dividends again.
I really, in some ways, wish this game was at Cameron and that the late season game was in Tally. I think you guys are still a fair ways away from reaching your ceiling, so lessening the advantage of home court now would be a possibility given the current circumstances.
Hopefully, the litmus that your team normally provides will answer the question most Noles still need to be convinced of, which is that we really have an opportunity to make a run this year.
I hope you guys get your team and coach healthy soon and that we have 3 battles this year, either in Brooklyn or beyond.
