It makes sense in the context that the west coast is largely not what you would consider “football country”. I mean yea, they will support some pro teams, but Friday and Saturday nights don’t really register out there, so there is no need for a massive conference to be considered “major”. Move the schools that care in with other conferences and let Cal and Stanford stick to rowing and water polo.
Word is Colorado and Arizona set to join Big 12.
