Right, you occupy the same rarified air that everybody I played Little League ball with who's mom thought their son would be a MLB short stop but ended up a message board superman.
Its like that meme on Facebook for Chef's, how come 1% of the population is gluten intolerant but 99% of customers want gluten free accommodation in my restaurant?

The number of guys who were supposed to be elite athletes and Navy SEALs is astounding, except for those darned high school shoulder injuries and ACL tears.

You know, injuries that *real* elite athletes and SEALs generally overcome to fulfill the requirements to be what they are.

Hey! Watch it with that shoulder injury comment, jflores. I resemble that statement.

Yep....and dislocated it three times, causing a bunch more damage before they figured it out. Small town doctor that kind of had the "rub some dirt on it and get back I there" mentality, lol.

In my next life I'm either going to marry a rich Hollywood starlet and take up a drug habit, or I'm going to sell Icy Hot and knee wraps at these adult 35+ hyper competitive softball leagues.

I delt with crap in my life that is outta McMullen's league. I REALLY had young people looking to me in life and death and I had to man up and be an adult. Quiting wasn't an option because I understood what it means to have people depend on you! And I mean really depend on you not some feel good PR stunt.
Football or athletics are entertainment. I really don't care what life and death situations you "REALLY" had to man up to. Greg McMullen ended his college football career with a year of eligibility left and likely has manned up to his teammates. He doesn't need to bear any crosses for that decision, yours or any others.

Gerry and Rose-Ivey both sounded like they weren't too thrilled when they found out. But they are excited about the opportunity for the young guys to step up.

My name is Flosh Wash Wing. I am a quitter too, but I quit too late. I masturbated in Junior High, my eyesight failed me and I later lost my schollie to the Vatican rifle team.
At least Gerry, Rose-Ivey and Cotton aren't quitters.

This thread, while entertaining, has gone straight up stupid.

There is a quote about walking in somebody's shoes that seems relevant.

I want to agree but taking the high road would of been to help your teammates by being a senior leader on and off the field. He was a starter on a unit that just watch three other starters leave early. These young players were gonna be looking to him to be mentor to them.

I hope he finds what he's looking for...
Going through the motions without full commitment sets people up for injury ...

+1 .. what I think I hear you saying is that before Greg McMullen made his decision he should have considered what it is like to walk a mile in red rover's shoes
It's called life people. So McMullen was down on Banker or he thought Banker was down on him??? Big surprise there. I read the transcript from his radio interview about Banker and the supposed cold shoulder. He's making a huge life mistake here and I guess we live in a world today where you don't confront bad decisions anymore??? You just support a decision to not cause drama. I'm the Bo hater yet I care enough for these kid's that it kills me inside to watch them throw it away cause of some misplaced loyalty. He'll never get his senior year back if he walks away and he'll come to regret it!

1. I can understand why McMullen decided to give up football.
2. I don't agree that it's the "right" thing to do, make a commitment, stand by your commitment.
3. My values are just that, MY values. They don't extend to the rest of the world.
4. It's his decision, I'll just wish him the best.
Coach JP stated earlier, you're either 100% in or you should not be in it. Think that may have resonated with young man? Maybe he and JP had that conversation.

I don't know the details surrounding McMullen. As far as I'm concerned, it's his life and his choices to make.

I was taken down to the old South Stadium to get my knee checked out by Pat Clare. How many high school athletes get that honor?

I once dislocated my shoulder and when it was reset, I could throw a baseball nearly 120 mph. Though I was only 12 years old, the Chicago Cubs signed me to a contract. Unfortunately right before a playoff game, I fell and dislocated my shoulder again and when they set it, I had lost the ability to throw the inhumanly fast pitch. They even made a biopic about me.

The kid's I care about. Bo and his cronies can overdose on their Bipolar meds and Jack. Make the world a better place and checkout in a pile of your own vomit.

You care about the kid as long as he's doing exactly what you want him to do. If you think I'm a Bo crony because I think McMullen should get to make his own life decisions without explaining them to you, then I don't know what to tell you. Oh yeah I do. You need to reevaluate your overinflated sense of self.

FYI...Wash down your pills with some drain cleaner first. It'll make your vomit inhaler that much more entertaining.
It's like when I play Call of Duty online and the little kids try to talk trash. What the hell is a vomit inhaler?
