I know that he probably won't ever start, but why doesn't Cutcliffe want him on their team? I know that Paulus talked to him about it, but Cut "liked what he had".

Duke is hardly a Texas or Florida. I would think that they would take all the help that they could get. I know that if Dee Bost wanted to play QB for us, and I was Mullen I would be all for it. And I bet Mullen would be to. Paulus may not be a starter ever, but he could run some plays and is probably a good enough athlete that he could be usefull.

The guy hasn't played football in 4 years and would only have 1 year to play. If I'm building a program and I'm going to have a 1-year guy, I don't want him to be using the whole year just to figure out how to play the game at this level. Not saying I completely agree with that reasoning, but I can at least understand it.

Good point. Cutcliffe is at the beginning of a long term plan. Rodriquez is in the middle of a two year plan if he doesn't win this year. He's looking for all the help he can get.

I think he's a senior who completed 62% of his passes last year. Plus, Duke doesn't run the spread, which is what Paulus knows. Michigan does.

He offered Paulus a spot as a receiver...so he does want him on the team.

He just doesnt want him as a QB, and thats because the offense Duke runs is foreign to Paulus. Michigan runs a spread, which is what Paulus ran in HS(though a different version of it).

Thats all from an article i read a couple days ago.</p>
