Agreed, GS has handled the rapidly changing environment well IMO. I like that he's rolling with it instead of complaining about it - not every coach has taken that approach. As much as I've had my issues with certain tendencies of his over the years (overall approach to offense and - just adding this one for absolutely no reason at all - insisting on icing the kicker), he tends to be good on this big-picture stuff, which shouldn't be discounted. And I'm liking his chances to silence the criticism about offense this season too.Schiano is smart.. he probably believes what he is saying but he is a realist too... you do not want to be a head coach who publicly says his players should be happy with college scholarships and what tiny benefits they had in addition. You also don't want ot be the guy that says once they commit the team should own them for the next 4 years. Even if that is what made college football the great game that it is today you cannot be a head coach who tries to recruit with opposing coaches being able to point out those quotes. And you cannot even say the wild west of paying millions to a few players is wroong.. because then you won't be getting the most in-demand recruits ever.
