Statesmen looked better than last year at this point. Should have scored on their 1st possession, when they were inside the10 and wideout dropped a pass in the end zone. Looked like they were a little unsure on offense and had some costly mistakes. All of this would be expected from a team that struggled last year and is adjusting to a new system. Gretna looked pretty solid on offense, especially #19, while the defense didn't seem very aggressive. Statesmen may have a better chance next week against Colonial Beach.
Gretna defense is very fast and physical.... Weren't agressive as far as blitzing was concerned because they a did a great job for the most part of containing joe reed who is a excellent player just not much help around him but I agree rh has some talent just got to get on the same page... Reed in 1st year at qb right?
