yeah, i hear great things about the coach from Chatham.I love what the coach at Chatham is doing and that program is going to be successful soon..They can score and are pretty exciting to watch but Gretna beats them by 5-6 scores. Should be over by the second quarter.
Chatham just needs some athletes to run his system. If Chatham had Dan River’s athleticism then I’d say they’d contend for the Dogwood. Allen’s offensive scheme is the best out of GW, Dan River, Tunstall and Gretna. Keeps you guessing and a nice change up.Yeah, Coach Allen is a great guy that cares about his players and puts in lots of time. Fun to watch his offense too. Keeps other teams guessing.
Agreed, if chatham had DRs athletes. I think they would be playoff contenders. Allen came from Buckingham, I know my boy @BCKnights is not too fond of him...but like the guy. He is friends with Smith and he has nothing but good things to say about Allen. I know he pushes the FCA as well down there....a solid program for them kids. The thing is....Chatham is known for a Baseball town...I wish they would put more effort in football as well.Chatham just needs some athletes to run his system. Only thing to prevent Gretna from scoring 70 or 80 points will be a "running clock", yet they still might, if they get some special teams and defensive scores. It should be decided by halftime. Maybe end of quarter number 1.
You were half right. LMAO WowRadford gave up 41 points to Galax, 13 to George Wythe, and 6 to Fort Chiswell. Chatham gave up 42 to Tunstall. I look for a high scoring game tonight.
Did not see game but i do know Gretna was missing their stud running back with a injury for the entire gameGretna and Dan River seem to always have great athletes. I know nothing about their coaching; nevertheless, I feel they need to get those athletes out in space. They need to be in as many one on one situations as possible. Appomattox County's Doug Smith masters this concept. They can run it and throw it, and when they throw it, it's often a run-pass option play for the QB allowing him to run it throw to an athlete out in space in a one on one situation. I suspect Dan River and Gretna are not as fluent offensively related to their scheme.
Radford is a team I know nothing about, but Gretna only scoring 6 points seems a touch low with those athletes on the field But, I could be wrong. Radford could have an outstanding D
Friends told me just the opposite. Said Chatham would have been better served if they had just ran it up the middle. Chatham QB took a physical beating plus all those passes in the first half just stopped the clock and gave Gretna more opportunities. Sometimes it is better to run the clock out and leave before taking more of a pounding. They said QB was a very tough kid..Oh well. Chathams coaches decision I guess.28-0 after 1 quarter. 49-0 halftime. 70-0 final.
I admired Chatham for continuing to throw ball after falling behind. Most teams would have ran ball up middle on every play to run out clock. Chatham had good QB.
Wasn't the score 70-0? How much success did they have sticking with game plan to keep on throwing? LOLIf Chatham had ran ball up middle, I don't think they would not have had much success. I admired Chatham coach for sticking with game plan and throwing the ball. When team that's trailing tries to run out the clock, it makes a farce of the game. I have seen teams do it early in first quarter.
They had more success throwing ball than they would have had running it up middle. Chatham's biggest problem was on defensive side of ball.[/QUOJust wondering. How does one run it up the middle? Seems that you would run into centers rear ????? LOL
So you are TOTALLY against the running game? Anything between the tackles. But you are ok with off tackle, sweeps, etc. How about a draw or screen? Do you like throwing it up the middle????anything between the offensive tackles. (and tight end if one is used)
basically anything other than a sweep or pass, is a run up middle.

I heard Chatham tried two fake punts with disasterous results. Just saying.I love passes "over the middle". I just do not like running ball "between tackles" 20=30 times a game Screen passes are good plays, along with draw plays. Also "trick plays" are nice, i.e. reverses, passes by running backs, passes by WRs, even fake punts.
