So what is the status of Grimsley QB. Is he back playing. My understanding he out at one time with injury. They will take on 6-3 Dudley. Thoughts on this game.

From what I heard and saw last week, Grimsley's Senior QB Brandon is still out (week-to-week) with a hand injury. The University of Tennessee has supposedly told Grimsley not to rush Brandon back, or else. So, Freshman QB Lowe has been the starter since he went down, and has performed well. From what I heard, he was paid NIL money to transfer in from Randolph County, as a 8th grader/rising 9th. The kid can spin it, he looks pretty good. I saw him live for the first time last week, against Page.

As far as this game. It will be much like the Page/Grimsley score line. 50ish to 14&under.

So, now you have a power four university dictating to a high school how to handle their player. It keeps getting better and better.

That 9th grader is a phenomenal player.... Great Arm, good decision maker and has great size for a High School Freshman. Grimsley will be at the top for many more years.

From what I understand, He is graduating early in December 2025, and will be enrolling early at Tennessee. When you are a player of his stature, with NIL money waiting in the wings...... he is more so a Tennessee player at this point. This is what happens when so much money is involved. This is what everyone wanted, right?

This isn't new at all. This has occurred since the 80s til now. Colleges telling athletes to sit out if seriously injured or not competing for a ship. Also telling them not to play their other sports their Sr year to train and avoid injury. Especially if they are enrolling early in January.

Maurice Staley, Drake Maye, Omar Gaither, Kingsley Ifedi, The list goes on and on.

He has great size for a Freshman because he isn’t. He won football/basketball championships as an 8th grader at SWR. Then became an 8th grader again last year. I guess you could call him a Redshirt Freshman.

If he re-classed there is no harm there. He still has to be age eligible as a senior to play. So he must be within range to re-class.

What school did he reclass at? He is a great player. Even if a sophomore he'd be really good. The Greensboro/WS area has a some great young qbs. Brodey Lowe, Levi Morales, and Demarion Allen from RC.

Looks like out of 59 players for Grimsley there will be 37 players returning next season. 14 Sophomores and 2 Freshmen and the rest Jrs. Unless I overlooked or miscounted.

Page did it for years in the 80's. How u think they won all those chips(. So did Cummins, Independence, Richmond Co, Burlington Williams, ect
And that does not make it right. Grimsley was a bottom feeder for years. Then all of a sudden....BAM! A perennial state contender? You mentioned Independence. Tommy Knotts is a proven coach. He's won titles everwhere he's been. I know it shows up in my posts, but that's okay. I have absolutely no respect for Grimsley's program...at all!
