For all the bitching and whining about seeding and strength of schedule the best 4 teams by a good distance are left in the West
These same four teams…EF, Weddington, Grimsley and Hough, every single season like clockwork. This is why the 4A playoffs have become so predictable and boring. There’s nothing new under the sun. Then you have Grimsley and EF scheduling enough teams with decent records but not strong teams to give them enough ratings points to have home games in the playoffs every year. My gosh, EF struggled with Mooresville last night. So Weddington should take EF. I dont see Grimsley taking Hough.

That's always how it's been. For years it was largely a Indy-West Charlotte-Richmond deal. Then you went through the Butler- Indy years then slowly you got a Butler- Mallard Creek- East Forsyth- Page run. Then Creek- Chambers/Vance-EF. Now it's rotated to Grimsley- Weddington- Hough run

I'm rooting for Hough now. I think Baker has really changed the physicality of that program.

I saw them play last night. Hough looks more aggressive especially on defense. I’m not just trying to cause debate. I really don’t think Grimsley’s going to take them.

This has been the same message every year. At some point you might be right!

I mean Grimsley did schedule Rolesville, Tabor and Reagan. Wasn’t Grimsleys fault that Reagan’s QB tore his ACL the week before. As far as EF, they try to schedule some of these Charlotte schools but get told no or the weeks just don’t match up. It’s not like they aren’t trying to schedule some of these better teams, it’s either a no or logistical thing. Both EF and Grimsleys non conf opponents were all playoff teams. Next year things could change with new classifications, split conferences and possibly having odd number teams in conferences to open up another non conference game

That’s right and EF and Grimsley can keep scheduling those cupcake schedules so they can get home games.
What is your beef with Grimsley? Year after year it's the same tired narrative from you. How is the Grimsley non conference schedule of Rolesville - Tabor- Reagan a cupcake? Rolesville win was on the road btw. I don't see you going after anybody else for their schedule. Guilford and Forsyth County 4A Schools are where they are and your conference is your conference. Grimsley or EF may not win the West bracket but this notion that EF and Grimsley purposely schedule cupcakes for playoff home game advantage is ludicrous. The difference in RPI between Grimsley and #2 Weddington was .00149. Haven't seen you proclaiming that Weddington had a cupcake non conference schedule. RPI for better or worse is how NC seeds. Fault the process if you feel the need, but not the participants .

He tried the same song and dance back in 2011 when Page ran through the Butler - Mallard Creek gauntlet. Said we played cupcakes all year and didn't deserve the #1 seed. Now that RPI is how things are based, it's still the same song and dance.

MrHonda must be lots of fun during the holidays.
A few years ago on Hamburger Square at the corner of Elm and McGee Streets , there was a dude there in a Honda van , no less, wearing a Charlotte Checkers hockey jersey, and he asked to borrow a dime. And then I"m like, " One thin dime won't even shine your shoes. " He laughed that crazy *** hung over type laugh , as he nonchalantly observed the early morning working girls. I loaned him the .45 cents I had hidden via duct tape that was taped to the side of the footwear that was chosen for the windy, downtown Greensboro morning. So if that was you, Mister Honda, gimme my damn currency.

Grimsley by 2 TDs
With all due respect, you said mt tabor would send Hough home if they met. Tabor went on to lose by 44 to a team that Hough beat by 44. I think you’re highly underestimating Hough. Grimsley will be the best offense Hough has seen this year, but I think Hough has the defense to hold them under 30. I don’t think grimsley has the defense to hold Hough under 30. I’ll take Hough in a 35-28 type ballgame.

Both teams have basically mauled everyone. Hough has probably played a tougher schedule but not by much. Both teams with 5 star kids and a bunch of D1 level talent. Hough the most physical team I have seen in a couple of years and great special teams.

Might be the state title game here.

Mallard Creek is the only team to hold Hough to less than 40 points this year and they did it twice. No defense left in the playoffs is the caliber of Creek's with maybe the exception of Weddington and Weddington may be better up front, but player for player, Hough has the best overall defese and has given up a total of 3 points in the playoffs.

Last two games at Jamieson Stadium in playoffs the last two years were 42-35 (‘23) and 40-37(‘22) in favor of the Whirlies. This may be the best Whirlie team in the Darryl Brown era. Everyone assumed that losing the two D-1 receivers would result in a weaker Grimsley squad. False.

Turnovers and special teams may make the difference. 34-24 Whirlies.
