The only reason a lot of these games are close is because the bench is so bad

It's strange watching the Grizz play and not blow it in the fourth. Glad VC thinks he's still the go to guy at the end of a game.

It's like the starters have to make up for the deficit that happens when they aren't on the floor. If their bench could even hold its own on the floor and keep games close to even, they'd be running away from a lot of these good teams.

It's still amazing what they are doing. It's looking like the Hawks will take down the Rockets tonight, which will mean that in about 10 minutes, the Grizz will officially be in the 8th seed spot in the Western Conference. From 1-8 to the 8th spot in the conference by the 43rd game of the season is ridiculous.

If you took away the 1-8 start, they are 23-11 since. The Cavs and Lakers are the only teams in the NBA that have played better basketball than that for the entire season, as far as winning percentage goes. Essentially, over the last 34 games, the Grizz are playing on the level of the 3rd best team in the NBA.

If they can keep the starting five healthy, it's not a question of IF they make the playoffs, it's what seed. And right now, at the pace they are playing, as high as the 4 seed may even be in reach.

or League Pass is running some special and I just get it for the week. I think it's just some sort of DirecTV special.

Next week, it'll be back to the 17ing Hawks. I miss League Pass, but I wasn't watching enough games outside of the Grizz to justify the $150.

A team that's two and a half hours away isn't on TV there and a team thats what.......6 hours away is the featured team.

That's been my major concern, that they will eventually run out of gas by the end of the season, though they are the youngest team in the league, so maybe they have fresh enough legs to do it for 82 games and then some.

Tonight was the first of 6 games in 9 nights against a bunch of tough opponents. Wallace has let it be known that he is working the phones trying to find some help. hopefully he will

That wouldn't be bad for some bench help. They really just need at least one bench scoring threat, and that'll take a lot of the load off the starters.

The good news is they have 3 first round picks in this coming draft to try to use as trade bait for bench help.

There is no way they'll want to pick 3 players in the first round in this next draft. Might as well use some of those picks for a trade.

At this point they need to just try to survive to the All-Star break. If they can make it through this stretch without a losing skid mixed in, and they can add a bench piece or two, they'll be set up for the stretch run. They have a good number of Eastern Conference teams left on the back half of the schedule, which should help too.

I know I had an extensive email correspondence that included FSN& Randy Stevens of the Grizz in October of '08. I live in Ridgeland. I get all the Grizz and Preds FS-TN and Sportsouth broadcasts on DirecTV. I believe the key was that I live in a "391" zip code. I'm pretty sure Clinton doesn't and they have a "390" zipcode.

If you want, I'll pm you that info.

Back to the game. If anyone was at the game, did my boy White Chocolate get any love from the crowd before the game? I was worried for a few whenthe magichad it wat 44-28.All of a sudden, it was back to 1 point. Conley's shake-n-bake at the end with the assist to Gasol to seal the deal was awesome.

This morning, we're in 3rd, a game out of 2nd place in the division and the current 8-seed.

Just a question, but is there any reason to even pay attention to division standings in the NBA? I know the division winners used to get seeds 1-3 no matter the record. I can't remember if that has changed or not, but I was thinking the division standings were basically worthless these days.

ETA: On radio yesterday, they were discussing this upcoming stretch before the All-Star game, namely the 4 toughest games in the stretch though they aren't in a row (Orlando, @San Antonio, LA, and @Cleveland). The consensus was that everyone expected a 1-3 run out of those 4 games, and 2-2 would be great. Well, they got 1 last night. Another win in any of those other games would be gravy. They just need to take care of the games they should win in that stretch (@Detroit, New Orleans, Houston, and @Minnesota). Those games won't be easy, but they need to probably go 3-1 in those games, and they'll be in good shape going into the break.

PM me what you got. I'm a 390- zip in Rankin County. From what I can tell, it's looking like I get the Grizz broadcasts on FSTN, but we don't get FSTN all the time. Fine with me. Only reason I ever tune in to a Fox Sports channel is for games.

The Hornets are on Comcast Sports, right? It'd be nice to get that so I could watch some of their games and some Memphis Tiger games as well.

The division winners and then the team with next highest winning percentage are guaranteed a top four seed. They changed it fairly recently to this. This way, if the two best teams happen to be in the same division, they can still get the 1 & 2 seeds, and all division winners are guaranteed at least a top 4.

The Hornets are on COX., unless you have the NBA league pass or they play on ESPN/TNT/NBA-TV, you can't watch them on television.

You can hear hornets games on the radio periodically on 930am if jackson academy isn't a conflict.

I keep worrying that the Grizz will run out of gas, but based on the way they are playing compared to those other 7 teams in that log jam, you have to like their chances to make the playoffs and get a pretty good seed. Hopefully this time they can actually win a game though.

but caught the 2nd half on TV, Grizz did look good and they almost look comfortable playing from behind which is something haven't had the confidence to do in quite awhile.Luckily theMagicians couldn't make a shotat the end of the 4th or it could have turned out different. Either way theGrizz won that game, playoffs in Memphis could be huge.
