Soul food is just po folks food. Wasted nothing that was even remotely edible. Visit a Mexican supermarket and take a gander at what's in the meat case if you want to gag.

Anybody ever eat this stuff? You don't make patties with it like the can shows. You just heat it up. It is great with gravy. You can only get it in parts of the South. I ate it all my life - until I read the ingredients on the can. Couldn't eat it until decades later when I started eating it again.

Anyone NOT from the Cincinnati and surrounding areas usually thinks this stuff is pretty gross. Cincinnati-style chili and spaghetti, and cheese coneys. If you're not from 'round here you'd say that it's not really "chili". You'd be correct.

Several chains around the area, including Skyline, Goldstar, Dixie and bunches of small, local chili parlors with similar Cincinnati-style chili. I still frequent the local Skyline a couple times a month.

I love local flare, I really do. First thing I did when I got into law school at Chase was walk over to Skyline. I didn't just go at it with an open mind, I wanted to like it.

I just don't get it. Had a few friends that are NKY born and raised, when I told them that Cincy chilli was flavorless mush, you'd have thought I slapped their mother.

I get it though, nostalgia will do funny things to your taste buds. I'm a hillbilly when it comes to food quirks. It's regional...

-scrapple is the titties.

-i've eaten chicken feet, heart (beef, fowl and pork), calves brains. lengua, tripa and bouche(sp) tacos.

-pork skin.

-pig and beef cheek.

-never eaten mountain oysters or lamb fries...would try if I had the opportunity.

-love kimchi.

You don't even want to know some of the stuff I ate back in the motherland, food needed to be spread out all the way. Lamb brains, goat testicles, intestines were all made with such powerful spices that I loved them growing up. Liver and onions was a fancy meal for us.

I don't know if anyone thinks this is gross but a chorizo, bean and cheese taco is just about as good as it gets for breakfast.

chorizo-Pork salivary glands, lymph nodes and fat, paprika, soy flour, salt, vinegar, spices, red pepper, garlic, and sodium nitrate.

Cottage Cheese.. but man, people are missing out.

Imitation crab meat is probably in most sushi you get..

I recently got into Oysters. Weird at first, but if you pour a little shallot and vinegar on them, pretty damn good.

Tried Durian Fruit once. I really tried, even ate two helpings...NOPE can't do it.

Prison food isn't as bad as advertised, at least it wasn't at Lee Adjustment Center, some from North Pointe said their food started a riot though.

Have eaten pork brains and eggs at Maw Maw's when they would kill the hogs each year. Dad liked the souse, but I did not.

Used to love to eat lamb fries at Hall's on Kentucky River. Dad loved them too, Breaded, fried with creamed gravy. Awesome.

Surprised Ghost didn't mention Neck Bone and Ox Tail. My black friends turned me on to these two delicacies. Just delicious.

Vienna Sausage and saltines taste like steak when you are fishing and starving.

Donfather, there is nothing gross about neckbone and oxtail . Trying to stick to the OP , lol

Love the stuff but seems they have watered it down. I didn't think you could go much cheaper but they have.
