From Jackson, waze is telling me 49 to 59 to 98E then the usual route. Is this still the best route?

I go to that area a LOT for work. When are you going because beach traffic definitely changes my route up. Generally speaking 10 to the Baldwin Beach Expressway, get off at Bucee's, and pay the Orange Beach toll is the best way. But sometimes it's best to go through Spanish Fort.

59 is just the bypass around H'burg, you're only on it a few miles.

Concur, unless you hit the the Richland/Florence traffic at peak rush hour, the construction usually only adds a few minutes. If coming from Flowood/Brandon it'd probably be better to take Star/Brandon Rd.

59 is also the main old school route from Bay Minette through to Gulf Shores. This my confusion. 59 through Baldwin County involves dozens of redlights and massive traffic.

Yeah that drive sucks going that way. I’m always thinking we’re never going to actually get to I10.

You are probably right, but this year has been crazy. We still have a significant number of out of state plates down here. Obviously we had a lot of LA and MS over the weekend, but I’m seeing a ton of others still.

That's an extra 30 miles

And 50 miles of 2 lane, bleh! Although the Citronelle Jr Food Mart boasts some delicious gas station food.

But only an extra 10 minutes per Google Maps. I could see that working out if you are traveling south at a time where the Richland/Florence traffic/construction is bad.
