Anyone know teams he's interested in transferring to? It'd be nice if we had a shot

Based on what I have read, I am not sure he would last very long in Starksville. Daddy livin' vicarious and all that ****.

I wouldn't have high hopes, but if he showed interest, we'd be idiots to turn him down. He was a ***** and the #1 QB recruit last year.

I don't have high hopes. With us only having 1 qb that'll be on roster next year right now, I hope our coaches at least give him a call. If cord makes it to campus, no big deal. If cord doesn't, I'd hate to think we didnt at least try.

True

It is still mind boggling that we are working with one QB this spring

I agree. It is mind blowing that we have one scholarship QB going through full spring practice. This is year 5 under Mullen and we have one healthy scholarship QB.

And I agree on Kiel. I would certainly call and give him a shot if he had any interest. However, I get the sense he is one of those pre-Madonna QBs. Lots of talent. No work ethic. And crazy *** parents.

Last I looked Cord is projected as a high 4th round pick. MSU just might get lucky with him. Would he really sign as a 4th rounder?

I would assume it is based on their recent history of grabbing every hand-me-down quarterback out there.

When I heard he was transferring, ole miss was the first team that I thought of for that reason. I was just wondering if he or they were showing interest.

I've heard and seen zero to connect the two

But to me, it's only a matter of time. He's pretty much a perfect fit (He's in need of Heppin').

Word up here is Cincinnati's on the short list

I'm not sure the intimate confines of Nippert Stadium can adequately contain the collective douchiness of him AND Tubberville.

Just waiting on Yancy to tweet that he was an UM secret commit all along and that April is when the magic is going to happen.

My first night in Starkville as a student I went to the old Shakeys Pizza on Academy Rd w/ some friends. When we got there we saw a big frosty beer mug being passed around and people were putting $$$ in it. We asked what was up and were told it was a collection for Hornbeck. We are thinking whats he going to do, chug it in 2 seconds for the $$ or what? No, dude put the mug up to his mouth and bit a chunk of the side of the mug out of it and spit it back in the glass. I heard it was a regular $$$ maker for him at bars but that was the only time I was around when it happened.

Remember Eddie Hornback??

for sure - he committed to ND then ended up a bulldog ... when he was playing QB for Ocean Springs he broke a long run where every single player on our defense touched him at one point during that run .... then he turned around and did it again - great HS player

This is true, I also saw him rip the sink off the wall in a bathroom one night

in a bar. He was strong and strange.

Was he that guy that was born with no hair anywhere? Was a QB for ND but ended up playing backup on the DL for us? Back in the 70s 80s? It must be him, because not many QBs end up on the defensive line. Jeremy Liggins might for the bears if he can do >11 on his ACT.

Yep. From Ocean Springs. Recruited heavily as a QB nationwide. It was between MSU and Notre Dame & the Fighting Irish got him to sign with them. Meanwhile USM signed another QB from a coast HS-- d'Iberville if I recall correctly -- by the name of Reggie Collier.

Anyway, Hornback decided to leave (I guess he couldn't make it as QB there-- this was before messageboards and such so no one really knew what was going on in real time) and transferred to MSU where he played on the defensive line.

his HS principle was in my section in the Laurel National Guard and he told me that ND wanted to redshirt him and he did not want to redshirt ... thus the transfer to MSU .... yes, he didn't have a hair on his body - not even eyebrows, due to some childhood illness

@Auburn in 1983: I was sitting in the Auburn student section with some friends. Hornback was involved in a collision and his helmet came flying off, revealing his bald head. Bald young guys were kind of unusual back then, and several people told me they initially thought his entire head had come off.

Super nice guy. Played his frat in intramural soccer once. He was the goalie. Now, the team I was on was a bunch of Soccer nerds who knew the intracacies of the game, while the frat guys were a bunch of big, strong athletic types. Wound up in a tie. Hornback made some phenomenal saves. Very nice after the game.

Once had a friend tell me Hornback was at an Apartment party, and he kept head-butting the door (wearing an MSU helmet) yelling, "I'M HORNYYYYYYYY!" Also, there's stories of he and John Bond stealing a garbage truck and joyriding in downtown Starkville at 3 in the morning the day of the Spring game.**

**-these are second-hand stories told to me by witnesses, and I may not have gotten the details perfectly. For those of you who say these are wrong, forget you-my stories sound better.

Dan Devine recruited him. When Devine left and Jerry Faust came in 1981, Hornback couldn't stand him so he left. Had no chance at QB, because we had John Bond at the time.
