Gus is very polarizing. People either love him or hate him. His yelling shtick gets really old to me, like he’s doing it more for show. But he’s not as bad as Joe Tessitore. I have to mute that guy and all his choreographed yelling.
Wouldn't be SPS without somebody hating an announcer.

I like Gus and the whole Fox broadcast. Those camera shots from the one on the ref are fun to see.
The problem with Gus is that he doesn’t have a lower gear. He is always so amped in those moments before the huge moments that he has no way to ratchet up besides screaming.
This. I say he’s too excitable. Save that for a big play or touchdown and not a first down on 2nd and 4.
This was shown in the Indiana-Penn State game. When Indiana scored on that great catch in the final minute, it sounded like Gus was having a heart attack in the booth.
Gus calls every single play like its literally the first time he’s ever watched live sports.
I can’t remember which NCAA tournament game it was…..probably at least 15 years ago now….but there was a buzzer beater attempt at the end, and Gus lets out this primal, blood curdling scream as if he was being murdered in cold blood right there at the press row. The impetus for said scream was just the dude catching the inbounds pass. I don’t even remember if he made the shot or not.
