I am getting a gut feeling that Dylan and his uncle are both staying at NU. It is a feeling based on nothing. But I think if there was real movement on Dylan going elsewhere there would be more rumors by now. But so far nothing but crickets. And in Rhule's press conference I got the distinct impression that he was throwing cold water on the idea that there would be a lot more coaching changes coming. He said something about how this is not time for a total "do over" of everyone and everything. He then focused on possible further changes in the coaching staff on the defensive side of the ball since the new coordinator will most likely want to hire his own guys.
If true, I am fine with Donovan staying as line coach. He has brought in some decent recruits, there is some young talent, and I liked how the offensive line, despite injuries, actually seemed to get better as the season progressed.
Would love to see Dylan back behind center next year again.

I’m all for it. Time to see if the young guys on the line have been developed and hopefully a big year 3 for Dylan

Worse yet, I think Rhule is waiting to see if Dylan leaves to decide on Donnie.
I think this is possible. Dylan has made no definitive statement one way or the other, which leads me to believe that he is shopping around to gauge interest and to see how much he can get dollar wise. Cannot blame him for that. You would be stupid not to. But the longer this drags on the more I think Nebraska is making a strong NIL push to keep him here and that there may not be a lot of other lucrative offers for him out there. But I also think that Rhule genuinely believes that Donovan is a good offensive line coach.

You would think Donnie would have been sent packing already if it was going to happen. Weird deal. Maybe post signing day instead?

Best possible scenario, and I'm sure I'm in the minority here, is that Dylan comes back a little humbled because his portal market is nowhere near what he thought it would be. I think we're better with him next year than without him, but there's so much he can improve on.

Apparently Rhule is indeed being held hostage by the Raiola family, or he is convinced Donovan is a good OL coach. Otherwise, you have to think Donovan would have been given his walking papers the same time as Butler. I supposed Dylan could leave and then Rhule lets Donovan go, but the optics on that scenario reflect so poorly on Rhule I think he would just keep him and hope for the best.

If uncle Donnie is around I hope Rhule hires another assistant for him and coach Rhule hits a home run hire at DC

Dylan probably noted noone was guaranteeing him a starting job at a school worth transferring to. Donovan's o-lines do show some improvement through the season but there are so many really bad performances from his lines that we shouldn't expect anything better.

least accomplished OL coach in the B1G (probably all of P4) and Spencer Rattler 2.0 who now has a bum leg.

yea, they'll be back. where else are they going to go?
I would not be surprised at all if Dylan enters the portal and resigns with Nebraska after getting a raise. He has the numbers to get a raise and TJ was unimpressive. It would actually be pretty stupid to not leverage for more money. All three could act as a package, with Dylan, Donovan, and Dayton acting that they would all go together if Donovan is going to be fired at NU. This is why Donovan isn't going to be let go.

I don’t think he’s getting raise.

I have zero doubt that Dominic and Dylan have shopped his market value around, and frankly, its a big ask for a lot of teams to invest that much dough in a kid who still has much to prove. If he takes a real hard look at that schedule next year, he should find somewhere else to play cause we should be in for some real as* whoopings with our without DR.

I would think having DR transfer would be totally devastating to Matt.
It might represent the epitome of failure.

You have an over-hyped 5* kid fall in your lap, tailor the offense around him, then have him reject your program cause neither have performed as well as the other had hoped.

It's like a beautiful 23 year old goddess who suddenly is attracted to you, and later you find out she's lousy in bed.

I can't comprehend keeping Donovan regardless of Dylan. Maybe Rhule is afraid he'll sit on him.

Dylan is an accurate thrower and team leader. But he hasn't exactly been 5 star in my opinion. The bar was so low when he took the reigns that just being functional seemed like a win. I think the onl way Dylan works for us to to complement him wth two 5 star quality OTs that can give him 4 seconds every snap against elite competition.

I read Dylan was quoted as saying Nebraska is his home and he's not going any where. I really admire his loyalty.

Between DR and the two theoretical 5* OT's, there goes 50% of the NIL money. How does that fill any huge holes on the defensive side of the ball? Assuming EJ leaves, it won't be cheap to find a real talent at RB. Those numbers just won't work.

Sometimes the simplest answer is the correct answer. If NU has stockpiled a bunch of 3* and yes, some 4* OLinemen and after 2-3 years in this program they aren't good enough to earn a starting spot, then what is the common denominator?

As a head coach you can't allow yourself to be held hostage by a QB or an OL coach when NEITHER of them is a true difference maker. Throw a bag at a Tommie Frazier or a Milt Tenopir. But 2 Raiola's? Not hardly.

The problem is that we always say the OL got a little better at the end of the year. Then the offseason hopeium starts again gosh dang it. If you keep him you have to bring in a tackle coach cause there is no excuse for how bad our tackles have been.
I agree, coach Rhule needs to take the TO talking points and TO would usually say we have a lot of work to do instead of saying this is going to be the best we’ve ever had. Barry switzer was the only coach that could get by with say we’re pretty good and probably going to kick everyones as$

Yeah after Dylan got injured the o line magically started pass blocking better for TJ. Connect the dots if you wish. I’m not sure what to think but it just could explain why those guys were so mad at past blocking unless it was being done that way on purpose.

I have no clue. Honestly I don't even know if I care one way or the other. Just patiently waiting until it's announced.

Thinking back to early 90s TO would say things along the line of if things come together, we might have an OK team.
