frosts Banging the wall was probably a glory holeSeems Rhule is banging his head against the same wall Frost did in Lincoln.

Garrison declined to come back once before. His dismissal before probably didn’t leave a very good taste in his mouth. He was an option when we fired Austin.I would hate it if Garrison is available and we stick with Donavan
The lack of any defensive linemen in this class is pathetic. I know that they plan to target some in the portal, but good teams get HS defensive linemen every year, especially when there is a need for them.Sorry. OT.
We have some young guys. We HAVE to get a big guy in the portal even if he makes more than the DC.The lack of any defensive linemen in this class is pathetic. I know that they plan to target some in the portal, but good teams get HS defensive linemen every year.
You need both every year to have a really good defense. We have some young guys. We HAVE to get a big guy in the portal even if he makes more than the DC.
We’re kind of over stocked with young linemen. We need some mature Dudes. I have zero doubt that Rhule is aware. You need both every year to have a really good defense.
We struck out on several defensive lineman in this class. So it's not like we decided not to take any this year. We just weren't able to get anyone good, which is sad. We’re kind of over stocked with young linemen. We need some mature Dudes. I have zero doubt that Rhule is aware.
IF you can’t land a kid you think will be a starter early, you’re probably better off hitting the portal. We struck out on several defensive lineman in this class. So it's not like we decided not to take any this year. We just weren't able to get anyone good, which is sad.
I know your point, but in watching the O line they need to get better. Physically they have bad weight & the team is bad at tackling because they ARENT strong enough. They lose grip & get pushed around. Bad, bad S& C.The problem is that we always say the OL got a little better at the end of the year. Then the offseason hopeium starts again gosh dang it. If you keep him you have to bring in a tackle coach cause there is no excuse for how bad our tackles have been.

Corcoran appeared to be in bad shape. The rest of the guys I thought looked okay. I learned a long time ago to not judge linemen by their guts. It appeared to me that Corc struggled to run on and off the field. Suffice it to say, he wasn’t athletic enough.Thats my general thought as well.
Wasn’t he a 4 star coming out of high school?Corcoran appeared to be in bad shape. The rest of the guys I thought looked okay. I learned a long time ago to not judge linemen by their guts. Sure, the O-line was going to purposely look bad on film for everyone to see including coaches and scouts. That makes perfect sense. That will show Dylan.Yeah after Dylan got injured the o line magically started pass blocking better for TJ. Connect the dots if you wish. I’m not sure what to think but it just could explain why those guys were so mad at past blocking unless it was being done that way on purpose.
I think he was. He’s too heavy IMO.Wasn’t he a 4 star coming out of high school?
And who do we get in the portal? A second string, though one time starter at OL or a once highly prized OT that had serious tendencies to self destruct at the wrong time and was an off and on starter.IF you can’t land a kid you think will be a starter early, you’re probably better off hitting the portal.
Back to waiting on kids to develop. It took 4 years for Nash and Ty to become what they became and we basically had 2 wasted recruiting classes between Frost’s last class and Rhule’s first. Gotta plug that hole someway and that probably means the portal. We have a transfer DT from last year who played some who they think could develop but it’s going to take a full off season of dedicated work in the weight room. I’m not sure some of today’s kids have the work ethic required. And who do we get in the portal? My point is, unless there is something going in the program and many players are leaving, it is going to mostly be back ups who have likely fallen from grace. Who is going to start at tOSU and say, hey I see Nebraska needs a good DT, think I will go there. We get left overs or kids that were very good at a lower level and want exposure. It isn't always true, but often. The guys who are producing are staying and getting great NIL. The guy behind him might be interested for the right money but he also might see the future of that program versus the Nebraska mess.
Ive seen a lot of things that don't make sense but this is high on the list. I could see DR returning but only cause no one else wants him. Could I see huskers keeping him sure because they have shown that almost every decision they make is terrible. Absolutely no way is he worth what they are currently paying him. You do realize they could simply move on from Raiola dn TJ and just go get a better QB in the portal and quite likely for the same or less than currently paying DR. He is not worth the ROII would not be surprised at all if Dylan enters the portal and resigns with Nebraska after getting a raise. He has the numbers to get a raise and TJ was unimpressive. It would actually be pretty stupid to not leverage for more money. All three could act as a package, with Dylan, Donovan, and Dayton acting that they would all go together if Donovan is going to be fired at NU. This is why Donovan isn't going to be let go.
Offensive tackle. Claude Mpouma. What 4 star DT?
He’s in a win now mode. High School recruiting doesn’t do much for that. He can get experienced guys at all of those positions in the portal IF he thinks we don’t have the young guys to move up. His DC hire is a big variable in DT recruiting. I have a feeling he likes his RB on the IR list and that we’re going to pay up to keep EJ. I think we have tp wait to see what we do in “free agency”.Offensive tackle. Claude Mpouma.
But overall this recruiting class is just flat out awful. An embarrassment. No QB. No defensive linemen. One mediocre running back. So it seems offensive line was one of the brighter recruiting spots.
The class of 27 looks very good. What happened this year is puzzling. Hopefully the new DC can bring in some stud transfers on the defensive line. We need an all-out push for defensive linemen. We will need to spend a sh$tload of money. But it is our most glaring major weakness.
If Matt is in a "win now mode" you may wanna inform Matt. lolHe’s in a win now mode. High School recruiting doesn’t do much for that. Apparently Rhule is indeed being held hostage by the Raiola family, or he is convinced Donovan is a good OL coach. Otherwise, you have to think Donovan would have been given his walking papers the same time as Butler. I supposed Dylan could leave and then Rhule lets Donovan go, but the optics on that scenario reflect so poorly on Rhule I think he would just keep him and hope for the best.
Imo they plan on hitting the portal hard or they betterOffensive tackle. Claude Mpouma.

You would think that Rhule would get him some help and have 2 offensive line coaches. You would think Donnie would have been sent packing already if it was going to happen. Weird deal. Maybe post signing day instead?
Some have floated that ideaYou would think that Rhule would get him some help and have 2 offensive line coaches.
I know it’s the NFL, but the Patriots technically have 3 coaches. Probably their most improved room since last year because of it. That plus drafting a OT at 4th overall. You would think that Rhule would get him some help and have 2 offensive line coaches.
Why?? We have plenty of proof that they’re not developing like they should. Latofsky (sp) Evans, are the only ones who have developed somewhat. And on passing plays the whole OL is a sieve…Donovan has put no one in the NFL, he cannot take credit for Jurgens, don’t give me that BS…I’m all for it. Time to see if the young guys on the line have been developed and hopefully a big year 3 for Dylan
I’m more curious to see how Brix, Pyle, and Preston Taumua turn out. Evans looked awesome this yearWhy?? We have plenty of proof that they’re not developing like they should. If uncle Donnie is around I hope Rhule hires another assistant for him
Dylan has already been vastly overpaid the last two seasons. Year 1 he was at $2 mil, and in year 2 he was at $3.5 mil. His production has come nowhere close to matching that value.I would not be surprised at all if Dylan enters the portal and resigns with Nebraska after getting a raise. You can have a very good S&C program but if the Coaching staff does not make it a point of emphasis then it wont amount to much.I know your point, but in watching the O line they need to get better. What did happen this year? I think Nebraska signed the fewest players in the BIG with the exception of Penn State. Did Matt and his staff get turned down by a lot of their targets, did they not like the candidates or did they just not put the effort into recruiting kids? From the outside it looks very strange especially since so many Nebraska high school kids went elsewhere.Offensive tackle. Claude Mpouma.

Public estimates of our roster had the number of players at 115. I’m not sure exactly where we’re at number wise today. We have one of the youngest rosters in college football and have gaps in our junior class that need to be filled. I think last year they said they would target over 20 guys in the portal with the idea of signing 12-15 every year. I don’t think that’s changed yet because of the youth of our roster. What did happen this year? I think Nebraska signed the fewest players in the BIG with the exception of Penn State. I'd much rather drop him and use the NIL savings for DL and OL transfers. I like TJ better anyway.
If the Huskers are graduating 19 seniors and trying to replace them with 10 high schoolers and then another 9 portal guys, those numbers likely won't work. I think originally NU planned to sign 9 kids and 10 portal kids, but then they added the Aussie kicker late.Public estimates of our roster had the number of players at 115.
