Lamont has some connection there. Obviously SDSU, but I think he even shared highlights of his on Instagram stories at some point during the year. 2.6 BPG in 25 MPG is big time

Edited to add since I’m dumb. He was Lamont’s teammate last year. While he’s a freshman, he redshirted last year at SDSU thus explaining that connection.

watched 1 game of his against North Carolina so obviously I don’t know anything but he moved well, had a good shooting touch and obviously was disruptive defensively. Definitely could see him fit in what pope is wanting to do and having a shot blocker is so critical if we go after more offensive minded players. Also lets you pressure on d bc if you get beat, he is there to erase some of the gamble

The NCAA is about to add that fifth year. This kid could potentially be a Kentucky for four more years if we get him.

That’s why I like adding him and the Robert Morris guy. They both have multiple years left

I don't LOVE this idea.

Only because I think we need to go and get a DUDE at Center, and I don't think this kid, Moreno, OR Garrison are good enough to be our anchors and replace Amari next year.

And obviously if we take this kid, that's it as far as the 5 spot goes.

So we would be rolling with those 3 (Moreno, Garrison and Gwath) and I just don't think any of them are to the caliber of what teams like Florida, Bama, Auburn, Duke, etc. have this year.

I'll trust Pope no matter what, but I was really hoping we would go find a stud to replace Amari after potential transfers have been watching him get better and better all year long.

0.7 assists per game doesn’t sound like a Pope Center. We need a passing big man.

I’ll take as a backup, but we need to get a good passer to go with BG. I like the Davidson kid from Nevada. Nearly 3 assists per game. That’s on par with Williams.

Maybe get Davidson to start with BG and bring Gwath off the bench as BG’s backup.

I know a lot of the BBN doesn’t think much of Garrison, but I'm encouraged by his progress and he's tough.
He can shoot the 3 and he puts the ball in the basket when he gets it in the paint.
Hopefully with a good summer of workouts, he can take over where Amari leaves off.
Then, grab a guy or two like Gwen and the SDSU guy and we're set.

I get what you're saying. But with his shot blocking and 3 point shooting, he'll be fantastic. I'd rather him be fantastic for us than one of our rivals.

Probably the type of system he's playing in. I don't know of too many other programs that use their centers the way Pope does.

Looks like Amari averages 3.2apg this year, but last year, he averaged 1.9.

It amazes me how Pope knew Amari was going to be such a good fit for the offense he runs. He obviously sees something others don't.

This is why you don’t let stats from a Freshman tell you the story. So much upside.

Dude looks PERFECT for Coach Pope's system!!! He can move, shoot 3's, has a good handle for a Big, Post up, Rim run and defend not only at the rim but on the perimeter!!!

I REALLY like this dude!!!!!
He does look very mobile and coordinated, good touch.

Well as we have all seen SDSU’s system is not offensive focused at all. It wasn’t when Lamont was there and he’s been way more of a scorer here as well. I like the tools the kid possesses.

Me too I think he’s gonna be very good.

Is this dude legit because they looked absolutely awful against Carolina. I know we need some defensive presence and I will defer to the staff on this but just curious.
He was a 0 star recruit. Got hurt didn’t play in conference tournament- could see him playing the 4 and stretch 5. Handles well, solid shot that can improve. SDSU and Kentucky don’t really utilize their guys the same. Extreme upside. Just don’t see the skill set very often. Reminds me of a smaller in height Bol Bol.

But remember, young portal guys can still declare for the NBA after one year if they’re qualified. No guarantees of multiple years.
