Yeah, this is a favorite for most rival fanbases...Tomlin LOVES this one.

There isn't a fan of any program, anywhere, that wouldn't take that cycle every 5 years for the rest of their lives, TS.



-Wife tried twitter for about 4 days after she saw me on it all the time laughing & giggling....of course, that DRIVES HER NUTS, so she had to get involved. Once she realized it's mostly about sports, and that she only "gets" about 1 out of 100 of my Tweets, she gave up.

I disagree to an extent. While I don't think the UK media goes to the same extreme as UofL media does in covering things up/not covering things at all, there are a whole lot of UK media (Jones included) who look the other way/massage stories. The air soft gun and Richmond incidents were covered and discussed but both involved police investigations.

I don't have a problem with homer media as they serve as certain purpose. My issue is when the same people who looked the other way on certain stories crush a player/coach/etc when they are gone for the things they refused to report. It's hypocritical and Jones is one of the worst when it comes to it.

After Gillispie got in trouble at Texas Tech for the way he was treating players you had a group of Lexington media come out with reports of how poorly Gillispie treated UK players. They talked about how it was a player safety issue and Gillispie should be punished/fired/suspended. Of course he deserved to be fired but don't act like you care about players 1500 miles away when you covered for the same thing happening in your own back yard in order to keep your access/relationship with higher ups. It's disingenuous.

* Just because a #1 seed plays in a terrible conference doesn't mean their conference schedule is completely ignored. What that means is that particular team has to do quite a bit more than most other teams to distinguish itself (be incredibly dominant in their weak conference, great non-conference schedule, etc). I'm fairly certain now that everyone besides chief understands this.

* Rich Eisen ran a 6.10 40 at the NFL Combine yesterday. As fun as the GYERO Olympics was, how much more fun would an "official" visit to the NFL Combine be? This should be a like a bachelor party "thing." Take a crew of 15 guys to Indy, throw down a hundo apiece, and get put thru the ringer and measured and ranked at every event. I think they could make a nice little tourist/guy trip business out of this.

* BTI actually just dropped his best post ever today:

"Stupid Enough to Admit When I Was Wrong."

Fantastic work, although he left out the bit where he called Kevin Galloway the best Power Forward in the history of the school, or whatever. And he should probably go ahead and add the "Matt Jones is the best reporter in the state" to the list as well.

* I love 630am on Sunday mornings. As terrible as Larry Vaught is as a person/social media type, he's actually very good when discussing, and ONLY when discussing, UK football. Big fan of that. It's the perfect way to unwind on a hungover Sunday morning when driving home/laying on the couch eating McDonalds breakfast.

I contend that, had Noel not gone down, UK would have been dangerous in March. I'm not saying we would have been an E8 team but we could have won a game or two.

My reasoning? 2011 and 2014. Cal's teams looked dead in the water both of those years, yet once March came around, were playing their best ball. I think something similar, yet lesser, would have happened in 2013.

- Alexander with 10 minutes last night. WTF is Self doing? It's late February. Traylor got 18min and put up 1p, 2r. Lucas got 14min and gave 2p, 2r. At the very least, Alexander is someone to contend with on the offensive glass.

This brings up two things I love about Cal- he lets these talented youngsters play through their mistakes- no real head games.

And, he plays to fit his personnel. Kansas this year is a team with an attacking (if erratic) PG, three good wings who can shoot, a finesse combo forward and one athletic raw strongman undersized post. That doesn't fit his hi-lo but so what? Make it work. Drive and kick all game with Mason and Greene/Oubre/Selden/Ellis and just let Alexander be a garbage man. Your posts suck so forget'm.

I know Kansas will win the B12 again but who cares? I'm not impressed with this team. If they're doing anything in the NCAA, they need Alexander getting more than 10 min.

I think the Selection Committe will completely ignore Kansas' Big 12 resume and only analyze their non-conference schedule, which is why they will once again end up with a 7 or 8 seed this year, at best.

Yeah, Wiggins has been as good (or better) than advertised.

Seemed like people cooled on him a bit overall after his year at KU, while still acknowledging his long-term potential to be a star.

He's ahead of schedule, imo -- shooting a better % from 3 in the NBA than he did in college, and already a pretty damn good defender, with the potential to be among the best in the league.

Minny has a fun little young team.

Rick Barnes may be the worst coach in America. I legit thought that was a Final Four team when we played them.

On a related note, Sportswriter Guy loves to make fun of UK fans for being delusional, having too many expectations, etc. But the fact that UK fans almost uniformly vomited at the thought of Tom Crean or Barnes coaching here is pretty good proof that we get basketball as well as anyone.

-Been saying this all year but I would be infuriated if I was a Rockchalk watching the offense run through Perry Ellis. Ellis is a helluva utility player but he's not the center piece of an offense. He's been much better, but I still don't see it with Oubre. To me, he's much more MKG-style than he is some potential star like so many project. I like Winslow better, without question...who is also in that same mold.

People seem to think Oubre has 'the man' potential down the road.

I can get down with that. And I don't think his stroke is all that 'smooth'...it's like a push shot. He's got undeniable potential, and tons of time to develop...I'm just not as high on him as most.

Maybe Cliff Alexander just sucks? He wouldn't be the first big to get by on bullying people and then have nothing to fall back on when that option didn't work anymore. The guy has no developed bball skills and isn't tall/big enough to shove 4s and 5s around.

Of course, this doesn't excuse the fact that Bill Self has no clue about how to handle stud freshmen. It could still be this, too.

-Alexander doesn't suck. He's no worse than Towns was for the first 3 months. He's just young and needs to figure out he can't just bulldog everyone at this level. He's got nice mitts, isn't a stiff and gobbles up boards. Really he just needed minutes.

Self is a helluva coach but like a lot of those guys they refuse to bend and when you're messing with high level talent for 1 season you better be flexible and patient.

-We hung out with Tucker a bit in the Bahamas. Like most of those dudes he was a really cool guy. Hot wife as well. That whole profession is just strange to me. I guess b/c they get attacked by both readers and the people they're covering they tend to circle the wagons.

Speaking of Ford, article today saying Towns is starting to rise rapidly, and may make a serious case for #1.

I don't see any way a team could pass on Okafor, and I assume they won't (although he says several GMs are now saying they like him better) -- but he's caught up to Okafor from an analytics standpoint, and even passed him per Kevin Pelton.

I've never rushed the field at Commonwealth. I guess I just don't understand what you're supposed to do once you're on the field. I mean, after a big win my objective remains to find the safest, least resistant path to a stadium exit. And from that standpoint I've always felt like not running onto the field with everyone else was the best bet.
