Watching the women's world cup with my lame daughter has been fun. But I can't get into a non-national team game. I, and most of you, are very provincial when it comes to sports fandom.

Time to get behind the hometown team, Adrian.

^ I'd actually like to run down there sometime and check it out, just for something different. I'm sure it would be an enjoyable summer evening outdoors.

Can't imagine I'd ever really care about it, though. Sometimes I think it would be cool if I could 'adopt' teams in other sports to make me more interested, but it's just not how I work I guess.

Except for Golf, I hope everyone wins and care deeply about all of them.

BBDK... First day on the beach she kept making passive aggressive comments about day drinking. Went up to the condo for lunch and reloaded the cooler with fresh domestos.

Came back down to the beach and cracked one. She then gets all hot and bothered asking how much I plan on having that day. Literally and figuratively drew my line in the sand and said something along the lines that I'm on vacation and didn't come here to lay up. She's been fine since.

I'd like to see said literal line in sand. I'd be beyond elated at that.

I don't understand why she'd have an issue with you pounding cold ones all day? I assume you're not bonging beers, closing down clubs, acting a fool. If you had little ones I'd get it but I don't think I've been on a couples retreat that didn't include us drinking basically the entire day starting right after our morning workout and ending with a night cap after dinner. Pretty much the greatest part of vacation.

-Dads, whats the protocol for boozing after child birth and childhood? My parents have never been big boozers and I'm not really looking to get wasted but a few glasses of wine or beers couple day sa week for sure.

I don't really have interest in any vacation that doesn't involve consistent day-drinking. Sad, but true.

Worship.

That will change at some point, but definitely not yet. Drinking all Day, Dinner, Early Bed is by far the winning formula for me these days.

First of all, it's "dads" not "dad's".

Early on you'll try to keep the same schedule/habits you have now until that first time you have to get up at 2 am and you're a little drunk/hungover. Then you'll realize how precious your sleep time is and won't want to ruin it with alcohol. The good news it gets better. I'll have a beer or two at home during the week and that's fine. But if the kid's around, you'll have that "on call" feeling all the time and that'll reign you in.

First kid, I stopped altogether because I knew that at any moment I would have to drive like a maniac to the hospital (never happened). 2nd and 3rd, never enough that I would have trouble carrying them back down the stairs.

At home, I typically wait until BABY goes down for the night.

Special events or dinner out with Sadie we'll drink but not at the same time, especially if we're away from home.

Corrected.

Basically what I figured. I never really get hammered at the house but I'll have a few glasses of wine and a scotch. Probably shouldn't be driving at that point but wouldn't be incapacitated if a 2am came up.

If the kid goes down at 7-8 I never really drink before then anyways. Sounds about like common sense. Don't get stupid and one of needs to be able to operate a vehicle.

Hahaha- there was no bigger insult in college/early 20s than accusing one of your buddies of "laying up." Marcus call their mom a ho.

Because most women don't like seeing their husbands getting bombed. I don't get it myself, but not every babe is as chill as Sloot.

I don't really get bombed on vacation anymore save one random sneak up here or there. It's mainly just a steady flow all day. Regardless, I hang out with a pretty large group and I don't think chicks in the crew would care if their husbands we're day drinking on vacation.

Marge will be day drinking herself next week.

Hopefully, one of the relatives will stay sober enough to watch the kids.

We've been in bed every night by 10:30 or so. Wake up early. Coffee. Work out and then the beach. Happy hour followed by early dinner.

Anth.. You're right. It's not like I'm shot gunning em down and then wanting to stay out late. She's not much of a drinker at all and just gets extreme anxiety and is very black/white. She doesn't understand the concept of having a few casuals.

Lass isn't thrilled when I get drunk at home (b/c of my antics during UK Games mostly, but those have obviously been few & far between the past few years), but vacation is no rules -- she's extremely supportive, and tries her best to hang in there...

...which results in her being in bed by around 8:30-9 or so, which is most excellent for my usual 1-2 hour nightcap/Gambol/etc. :sunglasses:

Guess so. Again, I'm not talking about black out drunk, shots, stupid, bonging beers. I'm talking about having beers on the beach/pool, a couple drinks after, drinks at dinner. I don't think you have found that speed yet. You'll get it one day.

I'm not talking about blackout drunk, bonging beers, etc. either. And I'm not even really talking about myself (although I too have dealt with the passive aggressive comments a few times in my day).

If you're day drinking at the pool/beach in 90-degree heat, you're getting drunk.

We went on vacation when my daughter was 2 and I was holding her out in the surf. My wife was on the beach and opened the cooler to get some water and my daughter starts yelling "Daddy needs another beer!" just as another family was walking past our spot. It was 10 in the morning. Classy.

Since then I usually hold off until after lunch.

I just don't "get" being super passionate about a sport/team you just decided to become a fan of in the last few years. I understand the lifelong diehard because I am one. It's ingrained in me to care so much about UK and the Reds and Bengals. It was never a decision. I didn't turn it on. But these super soccer fans to me, it almost seems phony or pretentious, put-on. Not surprisingly, many of these guys are Sportswriter Guy.

I'm an organic sports fan. I don't believe in manufactured ********.

Exactly.

After moving up here I've tried to get into the Red Sox and even Celtics (they even used to be my go to NBA team before I realized what an ******* Rondo was), but I cannot muster up the manufactured fandom.

- Soccer guy/sportswriter guy are awful, especially since most of them never played the sport. If you want to be super stuffy white male who doesn't like the sissy sport because he's not comfortable with his own heterosexuality, then by all means, own it. I don't want your fake fandom anyway. (/gonnastart)

- First set of boards tomorrow. Can't wait to get this ish overwith.

- Last weekend went with a group of 16 fraternity brothers to the metropolis of French Lick, IN for a golf/casino weekend. Most guys hadn't seen in a couple years.

18 holes Friday to set your peg/score, then a draft immediately after for 8v8 stableford scoring for 36 holes Saturday. Then another 18 of whatever on Sunday. Incredible time, lotta gambol on the course and of course casino. I am terrible, but it was fun nonetheless.

Did you happen to play the Dye course? Although I hear both are great...

Would love to go up there for a weekend, but from what I hear it's just as expensive as going basically *anywhere* -- hard to justify that in Indiana.

I've always wanted to do a golf weekend trip with my buds but hardly any of them really play enough to care about something like that. Hell I had 12 attendees in my wedding and when I mentioned potentially playing golf one morning that weekend- we couldnt get enough for a foursome.

The barstool sports intern is a good follow. Most of what is posted from that site is worth a glance, actually.

Vacation drinking. If on vacation with only a spouse (no children, in-laws, etc) there should be no limitations on consumption.

CWS this weekend will be much more enjoyable without UL dirtying it up. Looking at the teams in the field, all perennial powers. UL doesnt belong in that conversation. Recent success aside- its still UL (PRP). That tournament/college baseball has always ranked high with me. Below CBB but on par with CFB probably. Loved watching these games as a kid since there was hardly any other college baseball televised. Had a Fullerton cap back in the day as well. Their pinstripe "Titans" unis are top notch.

MIL in town this weekend putting her interior decorating skill to work as we stage the house to sell. Wife has had some good conversations and leads for job relocation but I cant seem to find anything. Not that i'm not getting calls back- there just isnt anything even worth applying for. Last time we moved for my job- so I'm feeling a bit of inferiority complex here. But she's dead set on moving "home" so i'm on-board.

We played the Donald Ross course and Sultan's Run 2x each. Thought both were great, and the Ross course was especially nice. And tough.

They tried to get on the Dye course for one of the rounds but it was much more expensive. We had some sort of deal due to getting 8 rooms/ 16 people; 4 rounds of golf plus two nights at French Lick for $330/pp.

I doubt I'd go back for anything other than what we did, huge group with no need for real entertainment other than golf/hanging out/gambol.

Pretty much all you need for a group of guys. I had one of the best weekends of my life at the dog track/casino in West Virginia.

Damn, that's an awesome deal...

Funny to always hear Chad talk about how much he enjoys "a pure guys weekend", when anytime since I've known him & that situation arises he's completely miserable.

:uzi: weekend golf trips. They are a blast, but people suck. We leave in the morning for Crossville TN and play at noon CT. Two of the 16 going waited until Tue to say they aren't going. So we are gonna be one short.

a) I'm not 28 anymore out hotcocking chasing women every weekend.

b) I would LOVE to go to the Eli Barron sometime but I don't golf and it's 5 miserable hours away. F that drive.
